FYI, there will be a PR merged shortly that will add a new setting under Unknown sources in System->Addons settings. By default the setting will only allow add-ons from trusted repos (for instance, the offical repo) to be updated from those trusted repos. The setting would need to be changed to Any repositories to allow updating from a beta repo. Please let any of your beta testers know.
The setting was added to help make think a bit more secure for users and help them avoid crash and compatibility scenarios. We hope to continue adding features that benefit users over the kodi 19 alpha phase.
Trusted repos are defined at compile time and defined by the provider be it kodi, LibreElec, omsc etc. They not editable.
