For those who get the black screen its most likely because you dont have a library of actual media probably just using addons. If you get the black screen long hold the back button or backspace on a keyboard to bring up the power menu from there you can access settings and assign your widgets.

I have already set up the widgets in the skin setting menu, after setting up the widgets and go back to the Home Screen it doesn’t show the widgets

You have different version of skin then me......
Find in your version all recentshowsandmovies and rename in recent in all xml for skin

this doesnt work for me because I'm using a apple tv remote & the back button is configured to the menu button, causing me to go to the main apple tv menu

i dont think that is the problem i change the skin to the default and the same situation
