NRK Nett-TV error

This is the log file from Kodi 17.6 on a Windows 10 desktop PC but I have the same issue on my Windows 10 laptop and on a Raspberry PI.

Hi, @StefanJan.
I'm not a developer, but I've looked at your uploaded log.
Looks to me like the addons installs, but fails when you open the folder with live steams?
Can you please describe your steps and the symptoms?

I click on video Add On NRK Nett-TV , then click on:

Direkte or Anbefalt or Mest sett or Sist Sendt or Kategorier then get the error message :

                    NRK Nett-TV error

OK, that makes more sense reading the debug log.

The plugin works for me, and as there is not more chatter in this support forum - I'll conjecture that the plugin works for most other users as well.
Can you clarify whether you are within Norway, and we can rule out geoblocking?

I'm not a developer, so this is my understanding of the issue in legman's terms: The plugin send requests for information about TV-contents(Titles, Description, URL to Stream, aso.) from the NRK website. Then it receives the information in an data object, that it analyse and structures so that it can be presented in - and processed by Kodi. It Seems like the analyse- and structuring part of the data object fails (from the log: "Error Contents: No JSON object could be decoded"). I'll need a developer to answer why this happens. It might be a myriad of causes from inconsequential trifles to underlying changes in NRK's undocumented API.

You have some blacklisted* plugins installed in you system. It's not up to me to judge, but that makes it difficult to get support from this community.
So, I suggest you backup your Kodi installation and try a new, clean install of Kodi and exclusively install the NRK Web-TV (Video) Plugin. Now, you can test the plugin and rule out a lot of other possible causes. In any case you got a more distinct debug log file to request help from.

It means the api is returning something else that json, even though the add-on request json only. If I were to guess I'd guess there's an error at proxy level that just returns a html error page as default (very common). Geoblocking sounds like a plausible cause. Or some other ip block, rate limiting etc. I've never experienced this error myself though..

@takoi: That makes a lot of sense, thank you.

I'm really puzzled, I installed a fresh installation of Kodi on my desktop PC with just the NRK addon.

I got the same error message but after enabling debugging, it worked perfectly. It also worked on a raspberry pi which had been throwing the same error.

A few days later I try again and I'm getting the same error message on both devices.

I'm based in UK using Unlocator with correct IP addresses configured on my router. I am able to watch NRK fine in a browser but not in Kodi.

This is the log file from my Windows PC http://ix.io/Sor

Seems you have issues with a unblocker service you pay for, rather than the Norwegian NRK Web-TV (Video) Plugin.
We can't really help you with that. Might I suggest you open a support ticket where you buy the service instead.

Hi, I did contact Unlocator but they were unhelpful " I’m afraid that we do not support Kodi. "

However I did discover when I logged into my Unlocator account that it said my IP address was unregistered, presumambly it changed since the last time I logged in.

As soon as I registered the IP address NRK worked on Kodi.

So hopefully all I need to do if I get the error message again is to register the new IP address with Unlocator.

My current internet ISP does not offer static ip addresses but my contract is up soon and I will make sure the new ISP does offer static IP addressses which should hopefully permanently fix the problem.

I'm not so sure this is a geoblocking issue. Pugin playback haven't work for me for quite a while (just checked ringht now), and I'm geobased in Norway. Doesn't work with VPN either, even though I've run through all the Norwegian VPN server alternatives.

It times out after hanging for 30 seconds. As others have mentioned, resolving and playing back the link/stream in a browser, works perfectly fine, same with treaming in VLC. Don't quite get it, its simply an MP3 stream...

Not sure you all have seen this, but NRK have filed a bug on the tamlan kodi repo, notifying that tvapi.nrk.no will be shut down within the next few months and that they don't have an alternative to use once that shuts down. Then the NRK Nett-TV addon will stop working.

Hi! NRK Nett-TV is not working anymore. I am still able to stream live broadcasting because I marked these as favorites, but I am unable to browse through the add-on.

Roger.
