I want to add addons to the home screen by category. The thing is I dont want it to be a process performed by the user.

If the user highlights "pictures" on the home screen I want any picture addon (up to 4) to appear above the button. Same thing for video addons, etc.

Is this possible?

Can't you query addondb? I mean addons are already categorized

This would be satisfied in part by 1.5 here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=94724

(that would allow you to pull all picture addons and place them in a static list)
