If I pause a movie and listen real close, I can barely hear the fan. This is having the Zotac about 12 feet away in a 12x12 room with no other background noise (ie fan, refrigerator, etc). So unless you are really trying to hear the fan, or if you sit right next to the device, you won't hear it, especially if it's in a bigger room.
