The thing is Hardware acceleration is the most valuable proprietary thing in a embedded system and getting it through reverse engineering can take a long time, it's better to make Rockchip aware of the fact that their competition is already using it and successfully sharing with their clients
Amlogics sponsered XBMC implementation im sure Rockchip will free up some resources if they aware that their clients demand the same and the more users demand it in minix and co's forums the more they are under the pressure to deliver to their clients
They already showed interest in picunto as well as chrome os and im sure they will in the future engage into Android XBMC
The hardware these days is pretty uniform there almost no differentiators anymore vs the competition in this low cost segment it's the Software that counts and XBMC support sells perfectly
Allwinner seems to not want to understand this , they will see what they get from it once Rockchip is supported
