It won't come as raspbmc but OSMC (new name raspbmc). So yes this thread will become obsolete only to make a new one using OSMC as thread name.
Forgive me if the following assumptions and question seem dumb, I may be missing something fundamental in my understanding. I am a long term XBMC and now Kodi user for probably 10 years. More recently moved most of the clients to Rasberry Pi using RaspBMC as I liked the style and commitment and could not find a native install of xbmc on Raspbian/Debian in the repos. I recently tried a build of XBMC on a native debian installed Model B+ running xfce4 and it installed fine from this repo deb http://archive.mene.za.net/raspbian wheezy contrib using the instructions from this this site http://michael.gorven.za.net/raspberrypi/xbmc. I could then install xbmc using apt-get. After install xbmc ran fine from the menus and also the command line albiet with some PVR addon issues. The installed version was 13.2.
Are there any plans to develop a native raspbian/debian xbmc install? I appreciate that there may need to be firmware updates as well as the dependancies. Just a bit confused as to why the starting point needs to be another distribution i.e. RaspBMC/Openelec etc. When a native install on the underlying OS (Raspbian/Debian) allows dual/multi use of the Pi as a desktop or GPM.
Sorry bit of a ramble!
Cheers
