Basically no answer from Wetek on this subject which is very disappointing. Even if it's negative, at they can give an official answer like "sorry but we have no plans to support this in our firmware". (which for me and maybe others = I'm not buying your box)

Personally I think that 3rd party remote support should be built in, and the 'standard' for this these days seems to be via a logitech harmony profile.

However, in my opinion these type of media boxes really require a combination remote and keyboard combination to work well. We always see the answer 'oh just connect a full size keyboard' however for normal use this is overkill. Mostly we need to be able to type easily, but only short phrases for searches, be that in our kodi library, or inside android apps such as chrome or youtube.

I wish the manufacturers would realise this and provide an off the shelf solution, even if it's an optional more expensive remote.

On my side I chose to go with the Rii i13 remote as a compromise to a full harmony setup (which cost more than a Core or similar box...). This gives me wireless mouse for android, mini keyboard, plus IR learning remote for 8 devices. A good compromise I think for a lot of people that want to control a media box, their TV, and maybe a set top box or DVD player at a modest cost.

However, this wouldn't work with a Wetek Core (without adding a FLIRC) as they appear to offer no support at all for 3rd party IR devices.

It's a pity, and it needs to be considered as part of the overall cost of purchasing any of these devices.

We are so sorry for late answer. As WeTek Core have built-in IR sensor, basically You can configure any IR remote to work with it, but it is not so user friendly process, as You will need to edit /system/etc/remote.conf and to add correct IR code for your IR rcu.

Easiest is to open telnet session and to type this command:

cat /proc/kmsg

Then press any button on some other IR RCU which You would like to use with WeTek Core and you will see printout of code at console.

Anyway, people which need easy integration, programming and portability could always buy FLIRC USB, as it is recommended by many people at this forum.
