I have an LG 3d TV and an optima 3d projector (requires glasses that you charge up). We have used the 3d feature maybe 5 times total in the last couple (3?) years.
It's neat I guess, but not something that we really fell in love with. Avatar was probably the best in terms of 3d look, but the illusion is ruined at the edges of the display, making the projector the best way to watch it.
I took my daughter to a movie theater and we paid a lot extra to see Pete's Dragon in 3d. It was hardly noticeable, a real waste of money. Maybe that's why it isn't really becoming a mainstay. Our TV and projector blow away the look of the theater. Maybe we were too far back, to really see the depth of the image.
