I´d start with a clean kodi install. Uninstall Kodi, manually delete all kept folders. Restart and install kodi. I doubt it is a tvserver issue.
Anyway, in my opinion you can easily Import the exported settings without transfering any bug.
Be Aware that there might problems using the latest mepo2 release. -> http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=313794

If you do not want to use the mepo2 frontend you could install mepo1. Both use the same tvserver, so you do not loose any functionality.
Would do a full install. Having the Client installed too can become very handy.
