Yeah, I didn't realize genres were such a mess. I could(?) be wading into a swamp, but it seems okay thus far. I got things sorted with some help here:

Very helpful people on that forum, too! I had to fiddle with the settings a bit, but I got Picard to generate " / " separators to make Kodi happy.
It's gonna be a slog to clean up my music library but Picard is the best tool yet that I've seen for this.
I'll try rebuilding the Kodi music database and report back.
