Sorry for the late response; I had to be out on business unexpectedly.

Thank you so much for your help, Dave! It's much clearer to me now and I'm sure that with this info I'll be able to kick my music collection into shape. Now that I know how it actually works, I'll update the MBID tags in those albums I reassigned to the correct album artist, and I should be fine.
