I don't own this box, but following the thread you linked to it appears the ethernet issue may have been fixed with a firmware update.

A Firmware update is NOT going to fix a hardware design error. That is just masking an inherent HW problem.
Read at the end of the linked CE thread and you find there are still ethernet stability issues.

Avoid !
