Release service.subtitles.subscene
I have tried a few times over the years to download this addon from the official kodi repo and use it. Never worked for me. Tried again tonight, it just doesnt find any subtitles , for any movie I try it on from my library. Clearly it works for others I must be doing something wrong. leia 18.9.
Figured it out , using default estuary, I have to manually type in the name of the movie and subscene gives me a list of subtitles, there must be a setting somewhere  in kodi settings ,to get it to search without having to manually type the name?

There's an ongoing issue with cloudflare ddos protection which subscene uses. There is some randomness to it and sometimes you can get results, other times the ddos protection prevents you from getting any results.
Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do with the addon, unless some python module becomes available that can emulate a browser and respond to the cloudflare ddos challenge.

The configure button is greyed out in all cases. There was not any problem with opensubtitle, but I want to use both.
Try v1.9.5 from AnonTester...

checking the tmp\24d9... folder I see that the addon downloaded a subscene.zip file but it seems it did not manage to extract and download its .srt content. I manually installed the https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:RAR_archive_support
but it did not make any change

Any idea?

@sasagr I'm a bit confused about the Windows File Paths of the log from your Apple TV installation?!
However, the log shows that the subtitle was successfully downloaded and extracted:
Code:
2021-02-14 17:13:38.269 T:9324    DEBUG <general>: ### [__main__] 6.709002 - === Found subtitle file C:\Users\sasag\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\service.subtitles.subscene\temp\24d9e7b7-1c8e-4368-bd83-bd403066d9ab\This.Is.Us.S05E07.WEBRip.x264-ION10.srt
but Kodi seems to have forgotten the tvshow episode filename and due to that failed in copying the subtitle afterwards. It attempted to copy the subtitle as ".en.srt" rather than "tvshowepisodefilename.en.srt"
Code:
2021-02-14 17:13:38.271 T:16364   ERROR <general>: CGUIDialogSubtitles::OnDownloadComplete - Saving of subtitle C:\Users\sasag\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\service.subtitles.subscene\temp\24d9e7b7-1c8e-4368-bd83-bd403066d9ab\This.Is.Us.S05E07.WEBRip.x264-ION10.srt to C:\Users\sasag\Desktop\subm\tmp\.en.srt failed

I've just tested again on my installation of Kodi 19 RC-1 20210211 on 64bit Linux (Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS) and subtitles for both movies and tv shows are being downloaded and handed over to Kodi to copy them into the correct directory with correct filename.

Could be an issue with whichever daily version you're using. Kodi 19 is still being developed and random things can break or get fixed. It could also be a weird issue with your OS or Kodi skin. Without a full debug log I can only guess and even with one, I may not be able to figure it out as I don't have any Apple devices or a usable Windows installation.

Just upgraded to Matrix from 18.6 leia. Loved it. No problems at all. Now that we have upgraded to Matrix we have no subtitle addons at all.  Was this on purpose?  Sorry, sucks.  Know it's free, but still.  Where did all the subtitle addons go.  The only one that shows up (Open Subtitles, I think) doesn't function.  Where do I find subtitle addons for Matrix?  All the addons that show up in my "subtitles" list are x'd out. Subscenes was ALWAYS the best for us.  It's x'd out as well.  Thanks.  BTW...I did try uninstalling Matrix and re-installing 18.6 -- wasn't able to for some reason.  A little bummed.

@alentejo999 Download and install my kodi repo from https://github.com/AnonTester/kodi-repo and then install the Kodi19 compatible subscene addon from that repo. There have been issues recently with Subscene and cloudflare ddos protection as per previous posts in this thread. There were similar issues in the past with subscene. It may or may not work for you or it might sometimes work and fail other times.

I couldn't find the logs path location on Android TV but The log said
Quote:Failed to install add-on from zip file
Installing the add-on from zip located at
https://github.com/AnonTester/kodi-repo/...raw/master

But I went to the site and downloaded the zip file and already installed the repo.

Thanx man

It would seem 19.1 broke the addon.
I make set posters! (I also take requests)
