MCE Remote for XBMC
#1
Hello,

I was wondering if this kind of remote will work with XBMC straight out of the box. OS is windows 7 64bit.

Thank you / Merci.

I have one of those. Poor range and the mouse control pad can only move the cursor up/down and left/right (i.e., no diagonal movement). I got this one instead... much better range and cursor movement.

Or you could use a spare remote you already have and use Flirc (wiki)

Flirc now has a forum: forum.flirc.tv

Finally, i have chosen to get the microsoft MCE remote control... I think it is the same as artrafael's one.

Do you know if it will be compatible with xbcm ??

Every MCE receiver I've ever used shows up as a keyboard to the computer, meaning that it is fully compatible with XBMC.

That's a VRC-1100, see http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Contr...s#VRC-1100, and it will work out of the box. However you won't be able to get the green button to do anything useful without some hackery.

The green "Start" button? Even though I'm not able to use it for some function within XBMC, I am able to get some utility from it by assigning it to an OS keyboard shortcut to launch XBMC if it's not currently running. The only button that's "wasted" is the "i" button since it is just another right-mouse button.
