Probably yes, if someone adds compatibility for the Allwinner CEC chip in libcec or find another workaround like for the RPI:

We are sure that AllWinner A10 devices look for u-boot first in the sdcard? because ive trying with pre-built images for the Mele A1000 on my Novo 7 Aurora and none of them work. To me it seems more like Mele A1000 comes with a u-boot that allows to load S.O. first from external SD...

Did you do it properly? I mean.
You compiled a proper kernel, putted the proper u-boot files on the card at the right sectors. Is the kernel at the right sectors. Do you have extracted the proper script.bin from your device? etc etc.
You can NOT just dump something from another device on a sd-card and it magically boots. It is simple, but not that simple

I think if you try one of the mele images the uboot on the sdcard should already be loaded, as well as the kernel. But probably the kernel will not start up completely since the devices/drivers are probably different.... If you have a serial port connection it should be fairly easy to see what happens and where it fails.
I can be wrong about this, don't shoot me if I am

I've tried both ubuntu & puppy images which work great, I was quite surprised by the performance as it was quicker than i expected.
I thought about using them as the building blocks to try and get xbmc up and running, following an article i found about installing xbmc on arm. I just need to get some quiet time when the wife is not home interrupting me every 10 seconds.

Ive been trying with:
http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/ha...000/puppy/ (not the skeleton one)
http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/ha...ntu_image/
Later this night ill trying to do my own image, i just DD those images intro the SDCard, but for what ive look intro, those images should work by just DDing them intro the SDCard, and ive looked intro both of them, and u-boot its there, in the correct position and everything. But the tablet just boot intro Android as always.

Maybe 25 $ is definitely tempting. But I'm afraid that shipment to Europe and then distribution to everyone would cost at least another 25 $.

Shipment to europe seems to be free with EMS. Then shipment intra europe isn't that expensive...
However, even if we were 100, I've no experiment with goup buying and have no idea on how to coordinate and secure payments.

you could for example use http://www.kickstarter.com/ but you need to be a US citizen, or atleast know someone who is etc.

Sorry to be a grouch, but What does the price of a android tablet have to do with xbmc ? Shouldn't really be posted in this thread

Maybe if we can get a group of people together to buy the Android device (containing the chipset mentioned in the title of the thread) some more developers could get one cheaply and thus speed up development? That on topic enough for you? :dodgy:
