Headphones - Music albums & artists auto download program
I'm in the process of setting up Headphones on my downloading machine. The post-process seems to be failing with the following error message -
Beets couldn't create an Item from: \\HomeServer\Downloads\Complete\~NewMusic\The Offspring - Days Go By [2012]\01-the_offspring-the_future_is_now.flac - not a media file?could not read file[/b]

Is this due to not having a media player associated with FLAC files?

Windows XP question. I know I wish I had another Linux box to run this on, but my others are busy.

I can run headphones fine from the command line: python Headphones.py using version 2.7.3 of python. Problem comes when I try to double click the file from the explorer it doesn't start. I tried selecting the Python27 folder with the correct version of python and still nothing. The command window pops up briefly looks like errors are getting written, but closes too fast to see them. Any help here?

Should I just write a batch script to put in my startup folder? (Just tried this and it worked.)

Resolved the issue. Looks like HP doesn't like UNC paths or mapped network drives. The files must be local to the HP install.

Now I'm trying to setup a nice automated system. What I would like to do is download FLAC versions of albums for playing on XBMC and my PCs, but I would also like to have either an MP3 or AAC version of the songs for playing on my iPhone. I would like to have this as automated as possible. Is there a way that I can use the post-processing to accomplish this? I plan to keep the FLAC files separate from the iTunes libaray of music as well. Since drive space is so inexpensive now, I might even consider having a FLAC (for XBMC) and ALAC (for iTunes) version and then downconvert the sangs when they're added to my iPhone. This way if Apple ever has a larger capacity (128GB) iPhone I'll be able to put the ALAC version on it instead of the lossy version.

Hope I'm making sense Smile

To update manually:
1. if you installed it through git, just cd into the headphones directory and run a "git pull"
2. if you installed by downloading the zip/tarball from github, just redownload it (zip, tar), copy over your headphones.db and config.ini files from the previous install, and fire it up!
3. if you installed the HenryFord version: wait for him to update the exe!

One of the better features in this new version is the "Refresh Artists based on When they were Last Updated" feature. Basically it'll pick up where it left off when forcing an artist update, instead of starting from Adele everytime :-)

Any questions you can ask here or on github - i'll try to pay more attention over the next few days :-)

Anyways, hope you like it - more to come :-)

@ HenryFord: is it possible to have your build script modify the version.py file to something like "build12345" or something? that way headphones won't be updatable from the exe. Let me know, thanks!

Just want to put this up again, just in case it gets lost on the previous page

Rembo, I updated to latest version "Version: ddf3432f758482d0dcb258d9f971051da54febcc" however the updater is still broken. Just thought you should know.

Thanks for this great app. Love it.

Or you might just need to restart Headphones? Sorry should've put that in the instructions :-) .....which I'll post again here:

Started using this and I think it's awesome. Just running into 2 issues which seem related to me and I cant seem to fix them.

1. When it scanned my library, there are some albums showing as "missing" tracks. even though all tracks are in the folder, headphones doesnt seem to acknowledge they exist. I tried moving the folder to headphones watched dir and letting it pick up and retag the files, but it processes the folder, and still does not recognize the "missing" tracks, and now creates duplicate entries in the album view. Some albums show me as having 30/15 tracks. Is there any way to manually correct this if I have to?

2. Even when it pulls a new album, downloads and processes, sometimes it will still "ignore" 1 or 2 tracks and show the album as missing those items, when in fact they are in the folder. Seems like it would be related to the above but I cant figure out if im doing something wrong or if this is a bug?

Not trying to be a bother, but is newzbin working for anybody else? When I have it enabled the searcher freezes when trying to access newzbin.
