What movie database does XBMC uses to search for information? As I have a movie call Triple Tap which isn't on TVDB but is on IMDB

by default its set to TMDB (not tvdb, thats for tv) but you can install the IMDB scraper from addons and set that to be it

IMDB addon isn't used anymore.
Install "Universal scraper" instead if you want IMDB

Which movie database site is the best to provide accurate movie information?

themoviedb is pretty good. It is user supported, if your movie isn't on there, then add it! Very easy to get an account and add stuff.
