Linux XBMCbuntu RC3 AMD install problems
#1
Hi,

I just installed XBMCbuntu RC 3 onto my HTPC which is an AMD A8-3870 3.0GHZ using the onboard graphics after removing my NVIDIA graphics card and i am having a problem.

After running through the install without any problems i get to the screen asking me to reboot, i do so, but then nothing after getting passed the ASUS start up screen i get nothing... i thought this may be a problem with my onboard graphics but i cant even SSH into the machine, which tells me it isnt even booting.

any suggestions?

you really should prefer the nvidia card, far superior.

Or have a look here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

thanks for your comments, but as i said, i dont think this is a graphics issue as the machine doest accept my SSH request either. must be a boot problem...

Having the same issue - onboard Intel HD 2000.
No issues with Eden.

You've probably tried this already but I'm gonna go ahead and ask anyway. Have you tried reinstalling a second time?

I have a feeling this isn't related to GPU.
I can run the live version without any issues - but after installing to HDD it simply locks up when starting up. Black screen, mouse visible but unable to move.

I have tried installing RC3, RC2 - both via CD and USB.

Any luck, Chris?

Can you try pressing esc and see what happens

Do you try to delete your ssh data in your home?
If you previously connect to an other computer with same IP as your htpc, ssh wont work.
So try to delete the folder in your home, I think it's called " .ssh " .

Same problem here.

After install Frodo RC3 succesfully on HDD (SSD), after reboot it only shows a black screen with mouse cursor at center, but completely freezed. CTRL ALT F1 (F2, F3, etc) doesnt work either.
ESC has no effect.

Eden runs ok.

Tried to reinstall, but no good.

My setup:
MB Intel DH61DL
VGA onboard
CPU Intel Pentium G645 @ 2.90GHz
2GB DDR 3 1333MHz RAM
SSD OCZ Vertex3 60GB

Installed from USB stick made on LiLi.

I'll try now to boot on secure mode, and change grub settings as uNiversal pointed out.
I'll keep you guys informed.
Ok, uNiversal pointed solution works like a charm.

DIsable RC6 on grub and go for a ride on new Frodo.

Thank you so much.

Cheers,

Also the same problem with my little Zotac Zbox, though with Intel HD Graphics. After install Frodo RC3 succesfully on HDD (SSD), after reboot it only shows a black screen with mouse cursor at center, but completely freezed.
