xbmcbuntu: 12 R3, hardware acceleration not working
#1
hey guys.

my HTPC rig specs are in m sig, i just noticed last night that when i play my videos (H.264 MKV's) im am not getting hardware acceleration payback. my cpu usage is going to 80% on core 50% the other and jumps around. On openelec ive always had hardware acceleration working and would never go past 8% usage on each core.

is this an issue with the RC3?

i have playback selected as auto detect and i enabled both hardware acceleration settings (even though one is for nvidia gpu's) and nothing.

im about to just install xbmcbuntu 11 but thought i would see if i can get this to work without having to do that.

thanks

I assume the 680GTX is an nvidia card - did you download the nvidia .iso? (There are two xbmcbuntu isos, one for nvidia/intel graphics, one for amd graphics). Also have you turned on vdpau acceleration in the xbmc settings?

Not sure what is doing graphics in your second machine.

Yeah I thought the 680 looked a little overkill for a media PC LOL.

I am a little hazy on intel gpu acceleration, but xvba builds might be what you need:
