Req Video playback in Pictures slideshow
#31
Ok, I've tried all video playback settings, but none fixed the problem. On my TV I was not able to change the display rate to 60Hz.

I tested Ed_HD.avi in 1080p which worked like a charm from USB stick. It seems only files from my camera seem to make problems.

Here you see the info from a sample video: http://www.imagebanana.com/view/d03puwbc/IMG_0308.JPG. VCPU is at 98%. Is this the graphic chip?
When playing a 1080p 10GB MKV-File the values are: dcpu: 0%, acpu: 3%, vcpu: 1%. Source in both cases is an external 2,5" USB harddrive.

Thanks for your help.

The codecs mjpeg and adpcm_ima_wav are supported says Wikipedia.
What do the values vq:99%, drop:97 and of cause vcpu:98% tell me about where the problem is? An idea anyone?

EDIT: What format should I reencode my vids to make them work best with XBMC?

vq = video queue, drop = number of dropped frames, vcpu = cpu usage by video decoding. iow, you're obviously cpu bound.

Do you mean the CPU is too weak?
What format should I reencode the videos?

something you can hw decode, h264 is a good choice.

I know, I could use Google to find a program for that. But can you recommend me a tool to reencode my videos, which works nicely? (Win7 or Ubuntu is equally possible for me.)

ffmpeg or mencoder.

I still have problems playing the videos in the slideshow from the picasa plugin (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=90453).
When I select the video it is playing, but in the slideshow mode it is just showing a black screen and then going to the next picture.

In the log file I see it is trying to play the video, but giving an error:

Not all video played in 'picture' slideshow mode.
E.g., played only 00010.MTS and 00011.MTS in folder, but there is far more .MTS in the same folder. Also before plaing 00011.MTS (second video file) message "Playlist: Can't fine a next item to play" appear.
Sometimes XBMC plays only even videofile.

xbmc.log http://pastebin.com/R4UKLAHL

Also, after stopping video by press Stop in slideshow mode it played again instead of stop.

Same here: all videos in slideshow stopped playing at my system with RC3. I tried RC1 but no luck.

Is anyone seriously looking into this? If not I'll try to find some time and fire up the debugger. How long is the window before release to fix this bug?

Video playback in pictures library is completely broken in Frodo. I've tried to fix it up, think it works decently. I've made a pull request on github. Here's the diff for anyone that wants it:

And thank you very much! Not sure if it'll make Frodo or the next release, but it _did_ make my livingroom!

You even fixed a couple of glitches in the pre-Frodo version (two videos consequetive never worked properly. Also I like that during a slideshow I can abort a video with Esc without aborting the slideshow itself (maybe that is not cleanly how it should work from an ivory tower point of view, but is it very usable in practice).

It's a pity that pictures are coming so short in XBMC. :/
I would like to use XBMC as my primary picture / video viewing application...Will this be included in the next nightly builds?
