Win XBMC on iMON Display (LCD / VFD) for Windows
Sorry to come in with a newb question but 68 pages is a lot and there seem to be a lot of different versions of this floating around. I've just got an iMon VFD screen for my Windows 7 PC running XBMC 12.1. I found this link (http://www.mediafire.com/?b316obyh61nb7a0) posted earlier in the thread which seems like a good start, is there a newer version I should be looking at though?

Basically, what is the recommended actions to take in terms of software once the screen is installed?

I've another question. Is there any possibility for enabeling scrolling the text on the screen? At the moment texts that are longer than the screen can show at once are cutted on my VFD.

Hi,

If you have VFD, you can use my version.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1009329

two line display with navigation, scrolling, progress bar etc...

replace the XBMCJsonRpcSharp.dll with the one in the "XBMCJsonRpcSharp Lib Eden" directory

Firstly, thanks so much for creating this version for fellow VFD owners like myself.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work! I'm not getting the .NET crashes like other people have experienced. XBMC on iMON connects initially, and displays the time fine for about 10 seconds. Then the program crashes. Interestingly, the time on the display continues to update (I have 'display seconds' enabled) until I click 'Close the Program' on the Windows 'XBMC on iMON Display has stopped working' prompt.

I've set the program to full debug logging, and the full log is here: http://pastebin.com/3e9zfe6i

It seems like it's the following error that is causing problems:

3/04/2013 3:43:20 PM [XBMC] JSON RPC Announcement received: HTTP/1.1 408 Request Timeout
Content-Length: 0
Content-Type: text/plain

As there are only a few more lines to tell the display to update the seconds after this line, then the log ends.

dont suppose you could come up with a build which works like parslejs' version so that it works on win8 without ..net crashing out ?

sorry i don't have win8 , can't test.

Sorry, kinda new to all this. Windows 7/Frodo v12.0

Yep, I replaced the XBMCJsonRpcSharp.dll with the one in the folder.

Here's some info from the Windows 'Stopped Responding' dialogue box if it helps any:

Hi

I have the Antec Fusion case with an LCD Imon. When using XBMC on Imon it displays everything, and when I hit pause during a video it says pause, but when I unpause it still displays pause, and doesn't change until I stop and restart the video. Is there a way around this?

XBMC on Imon Vers. 1.4
XBMC JSON PRC Vers. 0.1.0.2
Imon display api Vers. 1.0.0.929
imon display API wrapper Vers. 0.1.0.7

Imon Manager Vers. 8.12.1202

Thanks

Dear All,

Thanks a lot to all developpers for this Apps. It's really good job. I take a look to this thread in soundgraph :
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10684
But, no response to soundgraph to update the imon manager.

For my case, I have an orgien M10 with a simple 2-lines VFD (VF310). My case is :
http://www.origenae.co.kr/en/htpc_m10.htm

I want to install XBMC Frodo 12.1 and I want to have my VFD work like imon manager.

My question is : Which version of XBMConImon do i use ?

Thanks Smile

Hello,

I try the 2 versions (Parsleg & Cdenfert) and for my system (XBMC 12.1 + Origen M10) the Cdenfert version is the best. This version use the 2-lines VFD and it has progress bar, time.

All is ok for me.

Thanks.

For future reference to anyone else with this conundrum, cdenfert's version works best for iMon VFD displays (including devices like the Antec Veris Elite), and the edited version of BlackMan's tool, uploaded by Parslej works for the LCD type displays (the one's with the spinning disk icon and backlight).

hello

I am running xbmc 12, latest version of xbmconimon LCD version. When i start Xbmc it says its connected. Does the media have to be on that particular machine? I have a file server that xbmc pulls off of.

This is that last big thing to finish so any help would be awesome.

Thanks

I think you need to disable xbmc info in iMON manager. I don't remember the exact settings. I will post them later.

what i dont understand is that the only way to get it to connect is to set port to 9090, tcp port to 9090 and xbmc port to 9090.

It then connects but does not display any data on lcd.

What am i missing?

This is driving me nuts.

ok i answered a few of my own questions.

if i set all 3 ports to 80 i can get the title of the movie. 3 issues:

1. title does not scroll. It just gets to the end and stops.
2. no time remaining or anything but title displays.
3. lcd does not release after movie is over. or if another one started the lcd still shows the first.

Help anyone?
