Avoiding NUC due to USB 2.0 and i3 only. They're releasing newer models... sometime in Q2 of 2013 but unsure when...

you guys are funny... using words like "journalist". The loser that typed up that waste of bandwidth is just like a million other bloggers (which is all they are) - Clueless and worthless. Typing in a few words to repeat what they were told or heard is not a journalist make. The guy likely is as technical as my neighbors poodle... thus proving it comparing that system to an RP.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

The GB-XM14-1037 with Celeron 1037U looks very interesting, providing it will not be too expensive.
main problem is still the same as with NUC - neither is fanless.

I guess the Gigabyte will see the problem with fan noise and solve it with a noiseless fan / improved airflow / efficient heatsink / etc...

A reasonable review Here but still no sign of prices and not sure if the noise would b an issue

Some confirmed uk prices would be nice, especially for the celeron version but I'm guessing they won't be too far away from the intel versions

Almost the same price of NUC i3 version, but Gigabyte has usb 3.0 and a newer version of i3. This is AWESOME!

And a wifi module included too. I'm going to get the celeron version once available.

wifi isnt really a good thing for more dedicated users, wifi is only needed for home users, but using a Brix as a HTPC or Storage Server [ Brix + 2x Mediasonic Probox 4 bays USB 3.0 ] the wifi will be a huge bottleneck...

I'd have no intention of using the wifi for media duties when there's a nice gigabit LAN port to use, my point is its another added bonus over the nuc.
