I just noticed another issue not sure if it is new or not. I have both HDHomerun Prime and Ceton InifiTV. I add both devices in the server configuration, they both appear. My Ceton is the first device listed. If I use all 4 tuners on the Ceton, on the 5th stream it errors out. So, it doesn't roll over to the HDHomeRun Prime, it acts as if I don't have a 5th tuner. I also tested putting the HDHomeRun first and running 4 streams, the 4th stream doesn't start and comes back with the follow...

They both work when they are listed as the first device.

[8.27.2013.9:25:16]: Tuner[192.168.100.107][3]: Stream started successfully!
[8.27.2013.9:25:19]: Scheduler: Sleeping 10 seconds until next task

[8.27.2013.9:25:30]: Tuner[192.168.200.1][1]: Failed to start video stream

I see the issue. Going to try to fix this tonight.

Edit: Found the issue with the code. Will update the server later. It looks like the issue was always there.

@jfoley can you try this?

v0.6.1:
http://www.mediafire.com/?qd3cnm6epyb4kb0
- Fixed issue with UPnP actions if multiple devices are used.

I'll look into the android stuff over the weekend.

In progress:
Remote control web interface using mobile device
- Implement websockets & server apis - In Progress
- Add remote control for mobile interface

Okay, I tested again with similar results. I only allowed TV Server to have 1 tuner on the HDHomeRun and all the tuners on the Ceton. The Ceton was listed second in my devices list. It started the first stream fine, got "Could not get an available tuner" on the second stream (Ceton)

It looks different from your previous logs. This time it's not even trying to call the device.
Can you check the http://127.0.0.1:8888/m/status/ page to see if it says those tuners are already in use?
If so, can you try stopping them?

Getting the same. It is different than what I first reported but the same outcome. Once I use all the tuners on the HDHR it doesn't move over to the Ceton. I started 3 streams and the 4th one fails, which should start on the Ceton. Nothing else had those tuners tied up. According to the status page.

mcheng89 - first, thanks for your excellent software.

Tested on: HDHomeRun Prime(HTTP) with FiOS on both: Raspberry PI - Frodo (OpenElec & Raspbmc) and Windows 7 XBMC.

I'm having an issue with the XBMC Addon. The addon fires up and I can watch TV but when I try to change to another channel I always get " Stream: Could not get an available tuner " error message when there are free tuners available. When I get the message, I then click OK, to get back to the guide and will be able to change the channel. This problem does not affect the web browser player. It looks like the addon or TVServer is not unlocking the tuner after it finishes?

Error log: http://pastebin.com/TR6ucuK7

Thanks.

Just to add, that if all tuners are in use but not locked, the following URL [ http:// <ip of hdhomerun>:5004/auto/v<channel> ] is able to change channel. e.g. http://192.168.2.102:5004/auto/v5 , changes any unlocked tuner to channel 5.

I can fix that. You might have to wait until Monday though. I won't have Internet but I have access to my phone to see the forums.

Ill check this over the weekend since I need to install my ceton device to test this

Thanks mcheng89.

I'm not exactly sure the problem but it seems to be related to how TVServer is checking tuner status and the locking/unlocking tuners on the HDHomeRun. The addon may not be the problem.

Since there are so many pages of comments I am hoping I can get some quick questions answered. We currently do not pay for cable but after this article I am considering picking it up. I just purchased the InfinitiTV 4 card. I have a "server" that runs 24/7 that currently runs Plex for movies and TV shows. I want to install the card in that computer, add Verizon Fios Prime HD to my current internet service and run the line into the computer. I currently have 5 RaspXBMC's running on all the TV's in the house.
1. Will I be able to use the addon's and programs you provide to seamlessly stream up to 4 different channels to any 4 RaspXBMC's in the house?
2. Am I able to use your product to automatically skip commercials and DVR TV shows and movies?

Thank you for all the work you have done and for taking the time to read this post! I am hoping the above is what this can do! I dont want to rent STB from Fios and I want to utilize my existing setup to serve up everything to our house and to access remotely on our ipad or iphone.
Thanks again!

I am having 1 issue.. When I am on my home wifi everything works great! When I connected remotely via my VZW LTE connection the video will play for a minute or 2 before it will just stop... I am thinking the 10 second timeout is to short... Anyone else seen this?

I am thinking of writing an native iOS app for this if there is interest over the web app that is included currently.

The comments for the newer version of the software start around page 85 so it's not too much reading if you're up to it.

I don't use raspberry pi setups but others in this thread do. From my understanding they work fine but possibly require a reduced bandwidth signal. Also, are you running on wireless or wired internet? Four channels of raw HD signal is about 80-90 Mbps so I don't know if wireless can keep up (depends on your setup). If you don't have the bandwidth for this you'll have to transcode the streams to reduce bandwidth (tv.exe will do this for you) but transcoding four streams simultaneously will require a beefy server computer. Transcoding may also occasionally cause artifacts or glitches so in some sense I guess it isn't 'seamless' - depends on how picky you/WAF are.

No (at least not yet and definitely not in the immediate future). If you're looking for this capability you could use a WMC extender (Ceton Echo or Xbox 360) at each TV but that might get a bit pricey. You could also check out this other software which uses WMC as the backend: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=171216. This lets you DVR but still doesn't have automatic commercial skipping (perhaps with a separate plugin it could, I don't know). If you're getting a FIOS package with premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, ...) you won't be able to watch those channels through anything other than WMC or a WMC extender.

Thanks mcheng89 for all your hard work! For the ones running Raspberry PI what did you do to get this running? It might be buried in this thread somewhere but i didn't see it. Is it working outside your local LAN on the pi? I have a vacation home I would like to get this going at. Http stream works perfect there. BTW I am running the hdhomerun not the ceton which shouldn't make a difference from what I read.

@Chris732
I followed the instructions included in the download and was able to get TV::Server and the Raspberry Pi working but I ran into an issue when changing channels. This is on local LAN and outside.

How were you able to get direct HTTP streams to work outside of your LAN ? I believe SiliconDust intentionally disabled streaming outside of the LAN to comply with CableLabs licensing. Are you doing this behind VPN and Ethernet bridging?

Are you asking how to stream TV outside the LAN or is HTTP stream something different? I am able to stream both Ceton and HDHR Prime outside. Just set up a port forward on your router.

I can stream outside my lan using http and a normal web browser with no issues. What i am trying to do is get XBMC (raspberry pi) to grab that stream outside my lan.

Yeah, I can't really comment on XBMC or raspberry pi but can help from a network standpoint. Have you thought about setting up VPN into your LAN from the remote location?
