Release [depricated] old YouTube Plugin - XBMC 13.0 Frodo/Gotham only
After trying all the fixes listed in this thread, the fix for the login error that worked for me was:
  • 1 - uninstall the YouTube add-on.
  • 2 - quit XBMC
  • Delete the file yt-cookiejar.txt found in X:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.youtube
  • Restart XBMC and reinstall the add-on

Hopefully that's helpful to someone... Big Grin

What I did was :
1) Go to account settings on your youtube page, then click to link it to google+(which appears to create a profile, if you don't have one).
2) Go to advanced account settings(youtube.com/account_advanced), and click "change or add password"(it redirects to google accounts, for your new [email protected], and sets a password for it).
3) Change the login name in xbmc youtube settings to the name you see under advanced settings on youtube.com/account_advanced(like [email protected]), and then input the new password you set above.
4) Voila! You should now be able to login, and all your existing subscriptions should be there.

(Obviously change user-name-1234 above to whatever your username becomes).

Many thanks. That worked.

Does/will this affect the XBMC plugin?
Wow, what an annoying little bug, eh?

Well, after countless hours of trying to get logged back in after the plugin stopped logging me in for some unknown reason I finally got logged back in.

I ended up letting Youtube create a G+ page for me and then using the automatically generated email address for that page.
BUT... There was one thing I was getting wrong.
In my install of XBMC I am not able to use the number keys above the letters on the keyboard to type numbers. I have to use the keypad or XBMC will enter gibberish. When typing a password with numbers this is not immediately apparent.

So, if your password has numbers in it, remember to use the numberpad to enter them.

I hope this helps someone because this bug has annoyed the crap out of me!

I'm having no luck getting this plugin to work with Android & Gotham. It logs me in, but any attempt to view any video and I get "Could not connect to network server".

Any suggestions on how to get this working Gotham on Android?

I beleive it worked with the Frodo build of Android, but I prefer to use Gotham for the built in GPU acceleration on Android. Oddly the plugin does seem to work with the Linux version of Gotham.

EDIT: Just added the issue to github after reviewing the 1st post https://github.com/HenrikDK/youtube-xbmc.../issues/30
No one? I'm having this problem with all downloads..

Could it be related to the fact that I'm trying to download a VEVO video?

worked for me as well. all i actually needed to do was deleting the cookiejar file and log back in.
Can somebody help me how to search somebody else playlists in this addon?
random login woes are over for me, Youtube dicking around with A/B testing maybe, who knows.
I can't log in anymore.
After I borked my main youtube account (lost all videos while connecting and disconnecting it from the gplus crap as people have done on the previous pages) I have installed XBMC on a clean system last night and created a special Youtube account from scratch to keep my subscriptions on and it doesn't work.

Can another simpler addon that doesn't require log in and only display videos on selected channels be done?
Is it possible to integrate YouTube's subscription collections in this awesome addon? I've subscribed to over 30 channels and created different collections on YouTube site. That'll be great!!! Thanks
