[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
I feel like a fool right now but I have been struggling with this for a better part of a day.

I am attempting to get an initial setup for PTVL but I can't seem to get the install worked out. I have read the first three posts over and over and I am sure I am missing something silly. Here's the deal. I am installing the master (script.pseudotv.live-master.zip), as recommended in the first post, but it keeps installing version 1.3. I have uninstalled and deleted the script folder (userdata/script.pseudotv.live) multiple times. When I re-install it still pops up as version 1.3. It tells me that an update to 1.7 is available, but when I select update, the update never happens. This would not concern me so much except I cant even get 1.3 to launch. When I launch it just turns my screen black. I followed Milkman's guide and he said that if my library is large it might take a while, I waited two hours and still nothing. I guess I am finally admitting that I need some help. This kills me because I used Jason102's PTV before without issue, but have let it go in favor of this new fork. I'm dying to give this a try. I am really excited about this program and appreciate all the work that has gone into this project. I also appreciate anyone who has the patience to help me out. - Cheers

Good question. I would KILL to have live tv working but I've tried everything (via nextpvr) and nothing, nada, zilchSad

I finally did it with channel "type 8" and xmltv. The problem was the xmltvfile, when i made the right one everything works great.I use media portal backend not next pvr which didnt work for me.The only thing that annoys me is the slow changing channels but i think that is problem of the backend and not pseudo live tv.

I'm STILL trying to get PTVLive to work with Live channels and am really hoping for a bit of help. With regards to mediaportal backend, I was having HUGE lag in XBMC (like 5 seconds). I switched to an older (custom) Frodo and it's like 1 second between channel changes now!!

Back to my problem. This is what I did and nothing but a black screen. Please help.

Try deleting the files in script.pseudotv.live, then moving the new files over.

Because the log looks outdated? and try enabling debugging for your logs and repost with new information, So I can get a detailed look at the problem...

I downloaded the latest master and reinstalled it (still shows as version 0.1.9) after deleting all the files in script.pseudotv.live. I turned on the debugging and started up PTVL. It created the four channels again as expected and worked fine. I then added just the Channel 20 settings from above and restarted but unfortunately it went right back to a black screen.
Thanks for your help!

On a side note I am unable to enter into the Channel configuration within settings, I get a script config.py error.

Your debug log holds no information for the addon... You need to make sure you are using level 1, and check with the openelec forum on how to increase plugin debugging...

Take a look for yourself, search script.pseudotv.live and you will see the only logs for it are basic startup logs...

When your log is setup you should see tons of entries when you search...

I set it via advancesettings.xml -><loglevel>1</loglevel> and see it set in the log
Here is a new log -> http://pastebin.com/27i5vtxc

Hopefully this is a better file for debugging
Thx

I really wish I could help... for some reason openelec is blocking addon logs, you need to head over to their forums and find out where they store the debug logs for addons... then send me those logs.
The log you gave me only contains a few script.pseudotv.live entries...

just one question what kind of xmltv id is "NA_SD_CA04486:-_10743_5 " what xmltv grabber are you using and what country?

This is my XMLTV file if that helps. http://pastebin.com/6bQnBjDH

I use XMLTV Gui from: http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

Using NA_SD grabber for Schedules Direct. It was working fine up until I updated from the master a few days ago.

I fixed this already, you tried last nights master??

(kinda anoying) so basicly if you are only concerned with making 3 rows for just you it's posible but only way to make skin for others is if luna changes the code and if he would do that then the great skins that ARYEZ made would not work. if you still want to make the 3 row skin (for yourself) the info is in a thread on here somewhere i think it was the ptv skin thread with tmans skin ect.

Yup just figured that out. self.rowCount = 3

@redkiller try the visible condition... and let me know if it works....

I highly recommend not editing the script... if you find a few "skinning" variables within a script you would like to control from within a skin... send me a list (ie fonts, rowcount, etc).

I just updated and everything works better than ever! It used to take 5 minutes to parse 7 channels x 1 days of xmltv, now it flies through a complete 70 channel rebuild in just a few seconds. This is excellent, thanks Luna!

I can't seem to find anything in the Openelec forums regarding separate addon logfiles, really wish I could resolve this, seems like it's setup correctly. While I continue to try to find something to send you to for debugging any thoughts on why I am unable to enter into the Channel configuration in settings?

Edit:
Had another thought, my xmltv.xml file is quite large could it be that it is actually working but I am not allowing enough time for it to complete? The screen goes black so I thought it was consistent with the error everyone else has been mentioning. So far I have been unable to find anything about a separate addon file in openelec so it started me thinking that maybe it's not in the log file because it is working?

Thanks

I could speculate... but I rather not Smile

Config.py is senstive to my changes, a little mistake in code will keep config.py from opening...
So it could be on my end... I just checked and don't see any problems, but that doesn't mean the master git is okay...
I will push some changes tonight to sync my end with the master.

As for openelec... I know there is a folder somewhere in system that has zips of logs... did you check there?

I did find it with a few zip files in it but nothing dated for today or even recently. I added this to my last post but you may not have seen it:

Sorry it seems I had to refresh that folder and I did find a zip file for today and a much larger log file with many more pseudotv entries which is what I think you are looking for. Unfortunately it is too large to paste, is there any other way I can provide this to you?

Thanks!
