[RELEASE] Twitch.tv
(2013-12-19, 11:38)Quiksmage Wrote: The streams work with your fix, but they're way choppier compared to normal. looks like they're running at half fps
edit: hmm maybe it was only happening for a little while on a few streams? appears to not be happening now, odd.
it looks like randomly some streams are worse quality than their web browser counterparts.I was watching saintvicious's stream and it was running at like 15 fps maybe, no dropped frames or anything, but once I opened it on the web browser it appeared to run correctly in there. Other streams appear fine so far.

Weird. I tested out a bunch of random ones and they all looked fine.
You can try forcing a different quality if you want. The streams.get("source") tells it which stream to send to XBMC. I just left it hardcoded as 'source' since that should always be the highest available quality. The options are named the same way they show up on the flash twitch viewer, so source, high, medium, low, mobile (all lowercase).

Thanks probeh, working great for me. +1

On my Windows and Raspberry it fails with the following error in the log:
Code:
DEBUG: ffmpeg[9B4FF440]: [http] HTTP error 403 Forbidden
I think you need a version of XBMC with ffmpeg including at least this commit:
http://git.videolan.org/gitweb.cgi/ffmpe...e4673b526e

My x86 Linux system is fine.

Thanks for the fix.

probeh's zip file works on my Raspberry Pi with the current Xbian distribution.

It worked for me on a clean XBMC v12.2 install on Windows 7 and it works on my OpenELEC 3.2.4 HTPC.

Strange that you're having problems.

Windows Nightly from 20131011 works fine, so dont expect it to work if you are on the bleeding edge.

Thanks dude, you made it even better when it last worked.
So much faster stream loading hot damn this is nice for change
and i don't have to ctrl+alt+delete everytime i accidently fast forward

and btw sprigster if you planning to code little more for twitch app i wonder if you could like into way for seeing vods without for me tabbing out and go
to twitch.tv, but anyway thanks for this fix <3

You're welcome Razord93, unfortunately however I can't take credit for the faster loading or the lack of crash when you accidentally fast forward as both issues were associated with the RTMP protocol and was fixed by Twitch changing their streaming encoding to HLS, I just made it so the twitch addon could play the new HLS encoded streams Smile

I also believe the author (StateOfTheArt89) is going to work on implementing VOD's and also integrating an optional chat overlay too, but there is no ETA on these features as far as I'm aware (more details over @ the github).

It appears my issue was due to an old skin which hasn't been updated in forever. Weird that the issue just started now though.

Regardless, is there any way for me to specify local icons for games for this addon? The game icons are rather pixelated =P.

Yey, thanks for the official update!
I don't know why I even have cable anymore when there's always something better on twitch.

Omg thanks so much. I use this app everyday on my Rpi. It's working again like magic

Quiksmage, The icons are obtained directly from Twitch so there is no local option (It may be worth changing your
view style in the view options menu so that the icons aren't stretched as much)
