Problem adding to Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
#1
Hi I'm a newbie here. Installed xbmc 12.3 to my laptop and works no problem Bought a Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and been trying to add fusion as source but tab will not respond to Add source button via System and File manager. I downloaded the green icon which I presume is the correct one for Tab 3. Am I doing something wrong or have wasted money on this tablet Thanks

Above is the link you need to download for your SG Tab3 10.s. The Frodo builds will not work as your tab has an intel atom chipset hence you need an x86 build which have not been around long. I've got it on my tab3 10.1 and it works great let us know how you get on or need more help.

Until your post, I hesitate to sell my Tab 3 10.1 andreplace it by an Galaxy note 10.1 2014 which has an true ARM CPU

I will try testing this android X86 version of XBMC , on my tab 3 10.1
....But I don't find the exact install process...

-> Can you give me the right link for it ?

Many thanks and BR from France

Hi Jean-Max,
Funny enough I updated my Tab 3 10.1 yesterday with this Gotham build:--

xbmc-20140113-f8e79a6-master-x86.apk 14-Jan-2014 07:32 53M Details

It works great on my Tab, the only thing you have to do is unclick H/W Accel Module MediaCodec and leave Libstagefright as the default one otherwise you will end up getting no playback. To see what I mean have a look at a post I did yesterday:--

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=175626&page=10

Let us know how you get on or need any more help

Jean-Max,

xbmc-20140113-f8e79a6-master-x86.apk

Paste the above into a browser address slot and it will give you the file you need

All you need to do is download the file in my and then install it onto your tab. Once installed you can start to add your repo's

Hello sheepybach

I founded this French FTP:
http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu...droid/x86/
-(1)- > Is-it OK ?

I founded on the net an install process for Android XBMC :
http://www.xbmcandroid.com/how-to-instal...r-android/

-(2)-> For the version you indicate, must I choose the install process for "official Xbmc version" ? :
http://www.xbmcandroid.com/2013/06/03/ho...ard-addon/

Problem:
It's written : "(For) Any Android Device with a NEON or Tegra3 Processor"

BUT our Galaxy tab 3 10.1 has not this CPU !
So ??

Thanks for the help !

Jean-Max,
Hopefully I've highlighted the 2 URL's from your post above, please ignore them and don't install them as they will not work on your Tab 3 10.1 as our Tab 3's have intel atom cpu's not Tegra or any other.

Looking at the build you've put up http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu...droid/x86/ yes that is ok for you to install as its in French, So download it to your Tab 3 and install it and then start using XBMC on your Tab 3.

On Tablet, In Security tab, I enabled the "unknown sources install possibility"

I just downloaded on my PC the xbmc-20140116-23680e1-master-x86.apk file and copied it from PC, by USB, to GT-P520 /Tablet/Download/ folder
nb: The version (Multilingual) founded on French FTP is the same as the version founded on http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/android/x86/

On Tablet,
I go to "My Files"
/Device Storage/
/Download/
I click on XBMC file
XBMC - Do you want to install this App?
Install

XBMC 13 Gotham Alpha 12 is installed, and seems working well :-)

Setup in progress..

PS :-> Have you installed with success another skin ? (I love Modded Confluence Vol. 2 )
If YES, How ?

Many Thanks :-)

Jean-Max,
That's great news. As for skins some work with Gotham but give limit support for designer as it's still an alpha build. I've got r e-book he'd and amber on my tabs and have tried others but I didn't like them, I've not tried the skin you asked about sorry.

Hi sheepybach

I will use on the tablet, the pre installed skin "Touched" : its fast, more easy to setup than Confluence

-> Have you solved the green screen problem when playing some videos ?

You write:
"... the only thing you have to do is unclick H/W Accel Module MediaCodec and leave Libstagefright as the default one otherwise you will end up getting no playback".

In Video/Playback/, I modified the settings
Allow hardware acceleration ((libstagetfright) : Enabled
Allow hardware acceleration (MediaCodec) : Enabled -> OFF

With the 2 Enabled, HD Videos in m2T (Video edited from AVCHD and HDV rushs) are perfect, more fluid than with MediaCodec disabled

With the 2 Enabled, some ISO and MKV have the green screen
Disabling hardware acceleration (MediaCodec) allows reading these video but with artefacts (Videos are read by WIFI in 150Mb/s from an NAS)

I didn't test Videos in local mode :
Nb : How you can add to XBMC an Video/Music or Picture source stored in USB ?

Thanks for all :-)

Jean-Max,
As far as I know the green screen problem is still present if mediacodec is enabled tomorrow I will download the latest nightly and see. With libstegefright enabled I have great playback on hd content and have not seen what you have with it enabled on any of my tabs.
Sorry somebody else will have to help on usb question you've as I've never done it.

Hi sheepybach

-> How do you play HD videos on your Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablet ?

I founded 4 different modes:

-(1)- Videos stored inside the tablet,
-(2)- Videos stored on the additional 32 SDHC or 64 SDXC card
-(3)- Videos stored on an external USB device (key or HDD) (but you tell us that you don't use USB)
-(4)- Videos stored on an distant device (PC, NAS) and read in streaming by WIFI

If you choose -(4)- WIFI , then, what WIFI mode, speed and frequency do you use ?

On my tablet, and with my Buffalo WAP , I cannot have more than 150 Mb/s in WiFI N, 5 Mhz

NB : When played by VLC installed on my tablet, I have no green screen for the same HD videos having problems inside XBMC

Thanks for all !
I apologize for my bad English, but school days are far away ..

Well im going to appologize now for hijacking the thread, but it seems like a good place to to clarify a few questions i had. Running a galixy tab p7510 android 4.0.4 which with the reading i have done seems to be a neon device. I dont seem to be able to get xbmc going i seem to be with the understanding that there is a version to adress the proseseor isue with this device. The reading that i had done led me to belive i would need the xaf for neon download using the mx codecs, altho reading this thread i am realy confusedl and thought maby the x86 versions would work for me but no go. Alittle help wouldbe much appreciated.
