Intel NUC - Haswell (4th Generation CPU)
Has everyone with a harmony remote been able to set up successfully using MyHarmony online setup?

I have tried following other threads on this forum (specific for setting up Harmony remotes) but thought my problem may have been NUC related so posting it up here.

With my Harmony 650, I have Media Center Extender set up in my 'XBMC' activity, which successfully controls the directional arrows and play/pause etc, however within the same activity, I have MCE Keyboard set up, with C mapped to Harmony 'menu', Esc mapped to Harmony 'exit' etc and none of these buttons seem to work at all? Any hints as to what I may be doing wrong?

I'm on BIOS0025 and r17682 on an DN2820FYKH. So a little different. I'll try some of that tonight. Can't do the NTN0530 trick tho. That device doesn't seem to exist under BIOS 0025 Sad

quick q about the intel nuc

how quiet is the unit itself under normal operation running windows? also when playing 1080p movies.
We are running OpenELEC, but I doubt OS makes any significant difference... My son has very high audial sensitivity and can hear things the rest of our family can't. Sitting within 1m of the NUC with it switched, playing a 1080p movie and the TV off... with nothing else in the room on... he can't tell it's running. So it's pretty darn quiet!

Since I updated the BIOS to 24 on my D54250WYK the fan seems to have become quite loud. Anyone else experiencing this? For a complete noob, what should I be checking to make sure it's not running too hard?
Could it be because my NUC is always running? (I haven't quite been able to work through the suspend/shutdown issues)

We are at BIOS 25 on the DN2820FYKH with OpenELEC. We don't run 24x7 yet - we have a wiring issue we hope to be overcome in the next week or so.

That said, it is summer here with peak daytime temperatures ranging from 32°C to 47°C (90°F to 117°F) so our cooling systems are kinda getting worked!

Hhhhmmm... I noticed there were a few cooling settings in the BIOS. Could changes to these be causing the heightened noise in your unit??

I use Openelec, but I think it's the same as XBMC. You need to create a keymap.xml and put it in /userdata/keymaps/. You can have a search around here and on the OE forums for a pre-made template, or I can share mine if you want (I use the Harmony 650 too).

The defauly keys are ok, some are missing, but I set up custom keys to mark items as watched and turn subtitles on and off.

I have harmony smart control and those are mine settings working fine:

Hi
I'm just about to order a NUC ML320 and just wanted to check if
1 x Ubuntu Pre-Install Version 12.04 (LTS) (Build & Test Required) is ok ? Also, should I get 32 or 64 bit?
Thanks

What OS are you using?, although I imagine it it OS independent.

I was pulling my hair out, tried every combination of Mediacentre setups with my Harmony300, and finally tried

Manufacturer: Microsoft
Model: XBMC

Works 100% The only thing I had to configure was the 'esc' command to the 'Menu' key.

Try it and report back. It would be great to get a definitive make/model instructions in the WIKI

Hi
Newb here, with a Newb question! I'm about to order an i3 haswell m320
I've read through 80 pages of this thread but I'm still unclear about whether I need to order the NUC with just a Linux OS or with windows ? I only want to use XBMC and would prefer Linux only. Also, can I install Openelec on the SSD of the NUC, or does it have to run of a USB stick?
Thanks for any help you can give.

You just need the NUC, then install openelec from a usb stick.

And yes it gives you the option to install onto the SSD permanently

Thanks Zag
So I don't even need to buy this : "Ubuntu Pre-Install Version 12.04 (LTS)" ?

After i made the Bios Reset with the Jumper, because my Power Button doesn`t work, i cannot get to my Bios anymore. Also there is no Nuc Logo and i have no possibility to press F2. Openelec Boots sometime, thats all.

Anyone else with this problem?

Definitively if you will use your nuc only for xbmc, openelec is the best candidate on an USB stick or on a ssd (that I made). A small 30 go is largely enough and 2go ram as well.

I can use my Yamaha receiver remote to drive it. Don't forget to follow the turn around about displays and ir sensor explained page 1 of the thread.

And if you watch 24hz movies don't forget to cancel the default 175 ms delay in openelec. Usually it's not usefull anymore with modern nuc and av receiver. I lost a lot of time until I found that : http://openelec.tv/forum/68-audio/57509-24p-audio-delay
