i just want to point out it's not the same box due to the GPU being different. The CuBoxTV also doesn't have wifi nor bluetooth.
Here's a nice screenshot of the differences, there's nothing that's trying to be hidden or what have you.

I have no hidden agenda nor did I intend to step on anyone's toes, I was merely sharing my excitement about a new plug and play HTPC hardware/software solution that is coming to the scene shortly. I should have a Vero in hand hopefully by Jan 2015 from what Sam tells me.

There's clearly some history here that is muddying the waters in my opinion which makes people make incorrect assumptions which are just completely false.

Everyone, please buy whatever it is you feel will do what you want it to do in whatever way you get to the end goal, it's not my place to say how you get there or with what device. Smile

Thanks for the tech explanations... Again, Fritsch.

So taking all the tech speak out of the conversation and as both boxes seem to be espousing similar capabilities.
The questions I would liked answered in non tech terms are:

1. can the CuBox now provide proper 23.976fps (24p) synced to the TV playback say like a RPi ?
2. and one for Sam what does "Full HD 24Hz output" mean ?

Please take this wiki as my reference point:

Vero specs (dual-core, 1Gb, GC880, no eSata) seem closer to the $80 CuBox-i2 to me (+ wifi/bluetooth $10). Nothing to do with CuboxTV which is quad and GC2000.
Just saying, but afaik, none of the iMX6 kodi devs uses GC880...

[EDIT] Oh, and re remote, you can use the Cubox with an MCE remote, an Harmony with MCE profile, or basically any LIRC remote (see http://www.solid-run.com/archive/mw/inde...te_control)

You really think there is the GC880 included?

I really hope not: http://cache.freescale.com/files/trainin..._T1025.pdf (Page 51).

For now I thought it's a clone of that one: http://www.solid-run.com/product/cubox-i2ex-2/ 109 dollars but not: http://www.solid-run.com/product/cubox-i2/ 89 dollars
From what I read in the above pdf, the GC880 is approx 2/3 the speed of the GC2000 gpu wise, but only half the speed memory wise.

Oki, will stay tuned.

Edit: And only 50% the speed cpu wise, which is really bad for all non gpu accelerated movies.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

See Sam defending the GC880: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1845790 Wink
Also, the Vero specs do not indicate the eSata interface that the I2eX has. I would assume they'd tell if it had it.

But yeah, not clear what the vero is, really Wink

[EDIT] OTOH, Vero advertises Gigabit ethernet that the I2 doesn't have. The mystery darkens...
@Sam.Nazarko Could you clarify whether the Vero has GC880 or GC2000, please.

......Re. a 'faster' GPU: can you translate that in to evidence that the Vivante GC2000 provides a better Kodi experience than the GC880? If you look at open source drivers such as etna_viv (I am commited to a truly open source platform), you will see that the GC2000's multiple pixel pipes actually cause regressions and result in maintenance issues....
#84
@MediaPI: Any evidence? Links, sources for that? I provided a pdf done by solidrun themselves.

The opensource driver Sam is talking about is here https://github.com/laanwj/etna_viv/commits/master <- Not sure one can even start a media center on those drivers.
GC2000: http://www.solid-run.com/community/topic9.html#p272

fritsch I've just re-posted what Sam wrote (link posted by post above my post) for good narrative to this story, only Sam can answer your question I guess. (I'm just a bystander)
#86
Yes, it has GC880.

@fritsch: Re. CPU speed: it will ship with the dual core 1Ghz.

It does have Gigabit Ethernet. The device obviously does not match all the SolidRun specs exactly, or we would not be offering it in white.

etnaviv: indeed, not useful for Kodi but it is useful for other software which will run on OSMC
#87
@Sam.Nazarko Ok, thanks.

When you say "3D ready", what do you mean by that? The standard Kodi HTAB/HSBS support?
MVC support is useless on the iMX6 (max 720p).
#88
Yes, standard SBS for now. I know the support on i.MX6 has been hacked downstream by the distros which is not good, but it can be done the right way soon

Sam
#89
@Sam.Nazarko Ok, Thanks again.

Now that you are shipping, do you foresee to push the OSMC with iMX6 support to github anytime soon?
#90
All i see is that this is yet another product amongst many that claims a lot of things without any proof. Reviews with only promises and no hard facts. We know the actual state of the IMX6 code which isn't even in our master branch. You claim a lot without any proof by third-party people and pulling (user) numbers out of thin air.
It's just putting cash in your pockets for support which is actually done by upstream and you claim credits for.
Proof me wrong.

This is my personal opinion.
