Some movies have black bars

#1223, 23-Dec-2014 aspect ratio works

http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q630...aebc9a.png

I can confirm that with at least #0111 and following all videos are somewhat distorted in aspect ratio, e.g. I have black margins on top and bottom on a 16:9 TV although the video is also 16:9. Any settings during video playback do not seem to work, whatever I chose: aspect ratio, zoom, shifting, etc, nothing happens.

edit: Okay, that's not true. It works for high-res videos with at least 720p. The culprit seems to be this new video setting "Enable native resolution switching".

You have that turned on?
@majaru did you also turn this on?

I should probably remove that commit. It was purely for testing and it is not recommended as a default option. It is far from a working feature.

Would it make sense to label experimental features as such, like "Enable native resolution switching - experimental"? It is hard to keep on top of the many settings, and this would be a heads up if a user/tester is trying to figure out why something isn't working right.

Yes. Disabling solved the issues.

Hello.

Have you got networking problems with build #0114?

Here does not seem to work well.
If you are using test builds, then you should be willing to post a bug report.
You need to describe exactly what you do to provoke the problem.
Mediainfo of the file, a debug enabled log file and possibly a sample file that demonstrates the issue are likely to be needed. What kind of share are you using (NFS/SMB?), etc.

Hi.
Are you referring to my post?

I'm not able to do anything: my lan just stops working.

Thank you.
Which build did it last work on?

Please include the output of "dmesg" if you can, ideally one where the LAN works and one where it doesn't. You could host the logs on pastebin or sprunge if they are large.

Build #0113 works well.

How can I do it if my network is down? I'm not able to open a ssh session.

Thanks
Yes, that does make it rather difficult. It is possible to get messages from the serial console for the early part of the boot process, but then it gets switched off before USB comes up.

It is a long shot, but if you remove the "quiet" from cmdline.txt on the SD card and add "nosplash" you will see slightly more messages at boot up. See if anything obvious shows up. What does the Network tab of System Info show?

[It's a shame there isn't a way to switch to a console prompt, or at least to be able to view kernel messages...]

FYI, I've upgraded my Pi to #0114, and I still have network access using the built-in LAN port on a B+. What are you using?
He could always mount the sdcard in a computer and get the logs.

I will update to latest build now as well and check if there's any network issues.

Edit: All good so far with #0114
@PhilE
I'm using model B and built-in LAN port. System Info shows LAN up and running.

@Patrics83
Thank you.

OK, I will do more testing without overclocking.
Add "textmode" to the end of your line in cmdline.txt and you'll get a console, needs a keyboard attached to be of any use.
