For those wondering WTF we are on about see here

Thanks for that. Even framepacking is great as it only requires one converter box. But if the pi is capable of frame sequential output too then the cost of a 720 dlp 3d link projector is only about 150 on ebay which is much cheaper than one that does fp with all the processing in the projector. I will definitely be buying a pi 2 anyway now this has all been announced but if anyone here does know about fs possibilities I'd be greatly interested.

I'd post in the milhouse test build thread in the Raspberry Pi forum. The people who added MVC support are there. The Pi's HDMI implementation appears to be a lot more flexible than some other platforms so it is entirely possible.

Would you need to output 720/48p or 1080/48p ? (If nothing else I'd imagine 720/50p and 1080/50p with normal 'PAL speedup' might be possible?)

I'm pretty sure they need 720 120fps "interleaved" 3d. So if framepacked the equivalent would be 60hz. Is the mulhouse thread the one with all of the test builds that I've seen?

Yrs, that's the one.

Ah - I'd imagined that you'd want to avoid 3:2 pulldown for 3D 24p stuff? However I can see that for broadcast SBS material you'd need to go to 120p (As you'd be taking 720/60p TAB or 1080/60i SBS and converting it to 720/120p Frame Sequential to keep the full 60Hz motion)

http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation...fig-txt.md Seems to suggest that 720/120p is a supported output mode on the Pi though. (CEA Mode 47?)

Yes that does look hopeful cheers

One of the reasons I love the Pi is that stuff like this is implemented AND documented properly. Intel and AMD could learn from this.

Popcormix seems to think that fs is possible but might not be implemented for a while. This is awesome news at it brings down the cost of a 3d projector by hundreds.

Hdmk, is this a good one?

I think Raspberry Pi look like the next Ultimate all in one Kodi device.
With Raspberry Pi 2 supporting 3D mkv frame packed and soon 3D iso Frame packed.

The next iteration of Raspberry Pi (Pi 2 B or 3) should have enough processing power to support:
Bitstream audio (DTS-HD-MA-X ; DOLBY-TRUEHD-ATMOS)..

Yes though even now dcadec should allow dts hd to be decoded and passed as lpcm and truehd will do something similar. Never expected this from the pi. Roll on Isengard!

Allows it already.

btw, is there ANY device capable of outputting 3D as 120Hz FS?
i know its possible with NVidia, but you need to buy the 3DVision kit

There is the full htpc route with nvidia and a special build but nothing easy. This would put the pi way ahead and is something I never expected.

No, that's the previous generation. What you want is the English-branded version of Q5 4K 3D, also referred to as Q5-III on some sites.
