Is your TV reporting 3D support in it's edid? Can you post output of
Code:
tvservice -m CEA
or post a debug log (wiki)

I already posted it, but here it goes again:

Code:
PIWZ:~ # tvservice -m CEA
Group CEA has 17 modes:
           mode 1: 640x480 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:25MHz progressive
           mode 2: 720x480 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:27MHz progressive
           mode 3: 720x480 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:27MHz progressive
  (native) mode 4: 1280x720 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive 3D:FP|TopBot
           mode 5: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz interlaced 3D:SbS-HH
           mode 6: 720x480 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:27MHz x2 interlaced
           mode 7: 720x480 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:27MHz x2 interlaced
  (prefer) mode 16: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:148MHz progressive
           mode 17: 720x576 @ 50Hz 4:3, clock:27MHz progressive
           mode 18: 720x576 @ 50Hz 16:9, clock:27MHz progressive
           mode 19: 1280x720 @ 50Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive 3D:FP|TopBot
           mode 20: 1920x1080 @ 50Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz interlaced 3D:SbS-HH
           mode 21: 720x576 @ 50Hz 4:3, clock:27MHz x2 interlaced
           mode 22: 720x576 @ 50Hz 16:9, clock:27MHz x2 interlaced
           mode 31: 1920x1080 @ 50Hz 16:9, clock:148MHz progressive
           mode 32: 1920x1080 @ 24Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive 3D:FP|TopBot
           mode 34: 1920x1080 @ 30Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive

Thing is, I'd rather have the Pi not try to detect what the projector supports, because it supports TAB and SBS at all resolutions and frame rates by manually switching it to interpreting the signal as being TAB or SBS. The FP modes are sparse and only for low resolutions. With Helix this worked a treat, I could tell Kodi how to output the signal, and tell the projector to interpret it this way, and everything was fine. Now I either get a few FP modes with hdmi_force_edid_3d=1 that don't really work, especially at 24fps the DLPLink glasses wont sync, or I only get a monoscopic picture with a TAB or SBS gui.

So again, is there any way to disable any attempts of Kodi to try to match the output to the possible 3D input modes the projector supports?

BTW: Airplay support is broken now after I switched to the latest Milhouse builds. It plays one or two seconds, and then stops. The other Kodi installations, also on Raspberry Pis still work.

I'm including the latest libshairplay/AirTunes commits - requested here - which I had been told were working well.

You'll need to determine the last test build that has working Airplay (or AirTunes, whatever - I don't use Apple gear).
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

Hi,
with build 0618 is not possible to enable pvr.hts
0617 shows mismatch error, go to settings disable and enable tv, after that it works
The next build will include PR7305, which presumably fixes that issue with pvr.hts.

ok, thanks
Hey,

since Build #0618 my Hifiberry Digi is no longer working (i'm not able to choose it as my audio output device).

dmesg shows this:
snd-hifiberry-digi: sound: ASoC: CPU DAI (null) not registered
snd-hifiberry-digi: sound: snd_soc_register_card() failed: -517
snd-hifiberry-digi: sound: ASoC: CODEC DAI wm8804-spdif not registered
snd-hifiberry-digi: sound: snd_soc_register_card() failed: -517

After i downgrade to #0617 everything is working again (thy Pi detects the Digi and i can choose it as my audio output device).

How can i help to track down the problem?
I'll see if I can fix that (Wolfson) in tonight's build - the wm8804 options aren't enabled in the new kernel.

Edit: I added WM8804 SPI and I2C as modules (these options are both new to 4.1) but I'm still seeing the same errors as you, so the dtb and/or driver may require a tweak - I've pinged @popcornmix. Hopefully this is an easy fix and doesn't have to go back to Hifiberry to make their driver compatible with the 4.1 kernel.

Please don't stress yourself, I can remain at #0617.
But thanks for your fast response.

Based on tip of OpenELEC master (6ff0766c, changelog) and tip of XBMC master (1d20e723, changelog) with the following modifications: Build Highlights:
  1. No fix yet for Hifiberry-Digi - investigations ongoing
  2. Bump pvr.hts, although I suspect this won't fix the issue reported by @chipi. Continued problems may need to be reported in the pvr.hts support thread.
  3. Updated sdhost driver:
popcornmix Wrote:Phil's pushed an sdhost update that fixes an issue with a Lexar card.

If overclocking, it also will wind down the sdcard overclock on errors. As data transfers are protected with a CRC, this is safe-ish,
so in theory you can specify a too-high overclock and it will settle back to a reliable overclock.

Of course there are no guarantees with this, so backup before experimenting, but it should make sdcard overclock a little safer.
Build Details:
  1. OpenELEC:
    • kodi: remove unused splash images (5b166e0a)
    • installer: fix menu display, log file function (1ebb205d)
    • projects/RPi*: switch to kernel 4.1, update RPi support patches (9e5a6172)
    • linux: remove linux-4.0 support (6ff0766c)
  2. XBMC:
    • [pvr] bump pvr.hts to 2.1.11 (PR:7305, 1 commit, 1 file changed)
    • [win32][curl] Using CEnvironment::unsetenv() instead of SetEnvironmen… (PR:7307, 1 commit, 1 file changed)
  3. pvr.hts:
    • Fixed channel icon compatibility issue with recent tvheadend servers. (PR:47, 1 commit, 3 files changed)
  4. kernel 4.1.y:
    • New commits in this build:
      • BCM270X_DT: Document the i2s-mmap overlay (1c4271ab)
      • bcm2835-sdhost: Improve error handling and recovery (13b3cb93)
  5. Additional commits/pull requests/changes not yet merged upstream:
    • Added: patch: Enable Wolfson 8804 SPI/I2C modules

Hi,

I'm having a hard time watching simple Half-SBS Videos with the new build. It only displays one side of it on the whole screen now. When Support MVC and Full HD 3d Option are disabled, it seems to only display one half in 2D, although it renders the interface in 3d. When it's enabled, it seems to try to create a 3D FP output, but that doesn't really work, the projector recognizes a FP signal, but it's not 3D. It's just... blurred.

The file is named ...3D.SBS.... and works flawlessly with kodi 14

Real MVC MKVs work fine btw, but only if I rename them to ...3D.SBS..., they don't work with ...3D.MVC... or ...3D.FP...

Thanks for help

What is the last test build (prior to #0619) where this works for you? Also a debug log (wiki) from #0619 would be useful.

I'm using a Hifiberry-Digi+ w/ transformer on my Pi2, and it works with optical and SPDIF output, including AC3 and DTS passthrough. Maybe I can help?

That's the same problem I'm experiencing. SBS or TAB MKV Videos are marked 3D.XXX and were interpreted correctly on Helix 14.2, with the GUI and the video switching into SBS or TAB, now with Kodi 15 it always tries to put out some form of FP stream, even when no suitable 3D-FP mode is reported by the output device, like in my case. This usually leads to a monoscopic view of the video, while the GUI actually switches to TAB or SBS, depending on the selection and settings.

@Milhouse: any way to have an option to disable 3D-FP output alltogether for devices that don't play along well, so it reverts back to the "old" behavior of just outputting SBS or TAB without any frame packing? I think this problem will only ever get really resolved for output devices that support the full range of 3D resolutions and frame rates, like brand new 3D TVs and the like. My projector isn't just capable of receiving a full 1080p/60Hz FP video stream, only:
  • 1280x720 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive 3D:FP|TopBot
  • 1280x720 @ 50Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive 3D:FP|TopBot
  • 1920x1080 @ 24Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive 3D:FP|TopBot

@Catscrash:

You might want to turn on hdmi_force_edid_3d=1 in config.txt. That solved the problem at least half way, but only for FP supported resolutions.

You'll need to determine the last test build that has working Airplay (or AirTunes, whatever - I don't use Apple gear).

Thanks, I'll update and see how it works. I also don't use Apple gear, but a Synology NAS with DS Audio, and AirPlay allows for simultaneous streaming to multiple devices, while DLNA/UPnP only allows control of one device at a time. The gaps between songs are also smaller. With DLNA, it always takes a few seconds after the song ends and the next one starts.

I mean, in my wishlist I also have gapless or even crossfaded playback with either DLNA or AirPlay, but that's probably not possible with a non-Apple AirPlay source and non-Apple Airplay player devices, as the current song and the next one would have to be streamed at the same time, which requires support from all devices and software involved.

With this my Raspberry (OC 1000/500 and SDRAM to 480) hangs on different stages. Sometimes the booting needs "ages", sometimes after starting a movie the complete RPI hangs

And the same configuration with #0618 works without a problem? What about #0619 but without overclocks, is that any better? Anything in the #0619 dmesg? What type of SD card (brand, model, size/capacity etc.)? Are you overclocking sdhost?
