I think I am an overposter in this forum, but I put together more lengthy instructions on how to get it working: 222576 (thread).

Install the Starter Kit and all will likely be well. With dual 970s, I would set everything to NNEDI3 128-256 neurons (Image Doubling for all upscales, chroma upscaling, etc.). However, the latest Windows 10 Nvidia drivers may have removed this feature (at least, temporarily). You may have to roll-back to older drivers (like v353.49) to get NNEDI3 working. Check the madVR Doom9 forum for more information.

NNEDI3 is the best scaling algorithm but runs a little hot on most cards. These are the settings I would suggest for all upscales with high-end cards:

Profile: "Any Upscale"
  • Chroma: super-xbr150 + AR or NNEDI364
  • Image: Jinc3 + AR
  • Luma Doubling: 1.5x or greater - NNEDI3 32 to 256 neurons
  • Luma Quadrupling: 3x or greater - NNEDI3 32 to 256 neurons
  • Downscaling: Catmull-Rom + AR + LL
  • Upscaling Refinement: SuperRes (strength: 1)
  • Artifact Removal - Debanding: Medium/High
  • Image Enhancements: Off
  • Dithering: Error Diffusion 2
Profile: "No Resize"
  • Chroma: NNEDI3 32 to 256 neurons
  • Image: Jinc3 + AR
  • Luma Doubling: Off
  • Luma Quadrupling: Off
  • Downscaling: Catmull-Rom + AR + LL
  • Upscaling Refinement: Off
  • Artifact Removal - Debanding: Medium/High
  • Image Enhancements: FineSharp (strength: 0.5)
  • Dithering: Error Diffusion 2
Don't worry about the overscaling with 1.5x scaling factors. The added image downscaling shouldn't be a problem for your card.

Wait I thought Madvr doesn't support multiple GPUs in an SLI configuration?

According to this, http://wiki.mikejung.biz/MadVR#MadVR_Set..._970.2F980 There may be. I wasn't aware. I volunteer to check it out once I get the filters working.

Are you sure your filter configuration is using XYSubsFilter and that the 32bit version of that is installed correctly? I was having problems with subs for weeks. I then realised that the starter kit files mistakingly did not have XYSubsFilter set by default for mkvs and the like. The starter kit files have been fixed now but if you are using old ones that may be the issue.

I had same problem with some files with internal Vobsub / PGS subtitles. Internal text subtitles is usually fine. Switch to XyVSfilter and the problems went away. So you might try that as well.

On my system & some files xySubfilter was the culprit.

I can't get this to work with XYSubFilter, I added it to filtersconfig and mediasconfig, and files start up and play with SVP interpolation working correctly, but no subtitles are visible. Not even ones that worked previously with the Kodi internal filter.

Any idea why that might be?

First troubleshooter , press "o" when playing file to see if xysubfilter loaded in active filters list. Then open xysubfilter properties panel and check if it set to always load.

If both checked and still no subtitle displayed. Post your mediaconfig / filtersconfig.

I do have xySubFilter enabled but in order to show a downloaded subtitle when using DSPlayer + MadVR I have to stop and resume playback. Subtitles work as intended when using the default player from Kodi. (no restart required).

Just want to confirm that with the new version (15 RC1) my subtitles are working just fine. Start video (streaming via a SMB path), go to OpenSubtitles, download the file, continue to watch the show with new subtitles activated.

Thanks a lot!

A new log with 15.1 RC where XYSubfilter is used and Kodi crashes when starts to download subs:

I gave a look to your log... everything seems to work fine. DSPlayer loads all filters correctly, the subs plugin runs fine, downloads the subs...

11:16:24 T:4708 DEBUG: CGUIDialogSubtitles::OnDownloadComplete - Saving subtitle special://temp/Modern Family 3x02 When Good Kids Go Bad.en.srt to smb://192.168.1.10/Videos/Serier/Modern Family/Season 3/Modern Family 3x02 When Good Kids Go Bad.en.srt

Does the log stop here, since it crashes?

hi ashlar. Yes. What I have done is activated debugging in system and places kodi.pdb in the installation folder. I ran the video and downloaded the subtitle and the kodi crashes while downloading the subtitle. When I create/copy xysubfilter files to program files (x86) or just program files I have to choose as administrator to be successfull and afterwards install as administrator. I have really no idea why on each it crashes and why I can't get subtitles downloading. Have tried both XYSubfilter and xyvs.

I have taken the complete log from userdata folder kodi.log file in appdata.

Can be because I'm running 64 bit windows eventhough I have installed 32 bit XYsubfilter? I can't be the only one running 64 bitWink
I am running a shared mySQL but that shouldn't have anything to do with that.

Thanks for taking you time to help.
It's driving me insane and is not very WAF.

I'm runing Win10 x64 with DSPlayer / XyVSFilter x86. Working fine here.

hmm okay thanks. I have tried all day to troubleshoot.
Have tried to install x86, x64 XYsubfilter and xyvsfilter have tried again to completely remove xbmc 15 and install 15.1 RC still the same.
Everytime when I goes and download subtitles.
Have tried in window mode/fullscreen.
I don't know what else to try.
Could it be bad memory.

I'm not an expert in reading logs, but I couldn't find anything in there and have tried to disable XYsub and use internal and it doesn't crash there but doesn't load the subtitle before I restart video.

Any thoughts?

Yes, I'm on 8.1 x64 too and no problem like that. The thing is, the problem doesn't seem related to the plugin, the subtitle appears to be downloaded correctly and saved (do you see that happening? I mean, if you check, is the subtitle present in the relevant directory?).

I too had this problem where trying to download subs within kodi it would crash, just trying to remember what I did to resolve it I'm using win 7 x64 but with all addons (mpc-be, XySubfilter, Reclock and lav filters) in x86bit, is the filter included in Media rules for the file type?

Ok, so I tested single card and SLI. SLI does give you about 80% performance over a single card. I was up scaling SD to 4K and was getting 10 fps with a single card and now it hoovers from 18-21 with SLI activated.

With that said. No matter what up scaler I use, I can't get 24 fps Sad.
