I've logged onto the router and it does not show the ATV1200 as a device, and I can account for the other devices it shows so it looks like it is not connected.

Try reverting back to android then back to MX Linux

There are also OpenELEC images for popular amlogic based quad core boxes that work at least as well as EmbER or MX Linux.
