v15 No HDMI output (video or audio) from Haswell Mac Mini
#1
I have a Haswell i5 Mac Mini (Late 2014). It runs OE5+Kodi14.2 perfectly fine.

I tried a couple of different builds of OE6 with Kodi 15.1 (OE 5.95.5) and OE 6 with experimental Kodi v16 (from Fritsch) and in both cases, setting the option to set the display refresh rate to match the video resulted in no signal out from HDMI (audio or video) upon initiating playback of any video in Kodi. Yamaha AVR and Sony TV reported no signal. Turning off the refresh rate option enabled proper playback.

Log file: http://xbmclogs.com/pthzwxo9d

I'm now back to the latest stable release... OE5 with Kodi 14.2 (working normally)

Please post the log from official 5.95.5 - the log you have attached uses a current WIP method to switch resolutions which is not only broken for you currently.

Edit: And as you are at it, please remove the AVR out of the chain and test only with the TV and OE 5.95.5 - i think the AVR needs a powercycle.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I quickly abandoned it in an attempt to get it working properly and didn't capture a log. I'll try to find time to reinstall 5.95.5 and update this thread when I get the chance.

I re-installed 5.95.5 OE6 Beta 5 tonight...

Hopefully this helps figure out why sync display to video is not working for my Haswell Mac Mini.

One thing I notice is that when selecting an HDMI output in Kodi for bit streaming, my TV appears connected to HDMI1. When looking at xrandr --verbose, the TV is connected to HDMI2. Not sure if this is just a difference in enumeration of the outputs, or a sign of an issue.

You don't talk about "Sync" you talk about "Adjust Refreshrate to match video" right?

Your TV / AVR is just switching OFF when we switch to 24.0 mode.

Boot normally, ssh in and then do (without playing any video):

/usr/lib/kodi/kodi-xrandr --output HDMI2 --mode 0xef

What happens?

First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Yes... Sorry, "Sync" is short for Adjusting the refresh rate.

Of course the TV/AVR are not switching off in the literal sense... The TV displays the message for no input signal. As soon as I stop the video, the screen regains the signal and the Kodi UI is displayed.

I'll try that command tomorrow.

I did mention that the latest stable build of OE5 works properly?

No - but this code was neither touched nor changed ... so chances are hight that now OE5 won't work for you either ...

I mention in the top post that the latest stable build of OE5 works just fine... Refresh rate switching works as expected. There is something different in 5.95.5... No doubt about it.

Yeah newer xserver and newer drivers.

^^ this is still needed.

Will do that when I get home later.

That command causes loss of signal. TV on screen says...

Image

I gather it's switching to mode 0xef which is 1920x1080@24Hz.
Running the same command with mode 0xf2 has the same result - no signal.
Running it to set mode 0x49 returns to 60Hz and I can see the Kodi GUI again.

Before: http://sprunge.us/jFhM
After: http://sprunge.us/FXZc

I can try the same using OE5 if you like... but I know it will work there.

As said before: It has absolutely nothing to do with Kodi - but yes go ahead and try it with OE5.

Will do. Is it a driver issue with the OS?

You will find out with OE5.

OE5 works perfectly... Sets the refresh rate of the TV on start/stop and no loss of signal.

What can I do to help figure out what's wrong with the OE6 beta?
