[HOW TO] KODI Linux on Amlogic TV Boxes
Hi all

I want to alter a line in the DialogBusy.xml file in Kodi but I do not know how to access the ATV1200 to do that. Could someone give me instructions on how to do this in layman's terms?

I can see one of my box's on my network drive (the ember box) but I cant see any files within it?

much appreciated Smile

Hi AuXBoX, it installs OK. Confluence does not appear quite right, it's hard to see where you are on the menu. However I was able to determine from the System menu that it is version 15.1.

Next I tried to setup my WiFi but when I click on WiFi manager it does not appear to do anything, though I suspect I just cannot see anything other than the menu where I selected WiFi manager. I cannot see the mouse pointer at all.

Can you try installing another skin. By either the add-ons screen or ftp into the device

I tried Amber, but got dependencies not met. That's a problem because I cannot setup WiFi, but I shall try to get a TV close enough to my router tomorrow.

Thanks, I'll have a look at it and try again.
Just hard without anything to test on. We'll get there

Hey Auxbox thanks for your hard work for this amazing community in bringing MX Linux KODI Isengard 15.1 to us all :-) I have a little spare time this weekend and my box can use either WiFi or direct Ethernet connection so yes indeed I will see if I can help you out here with some testing. Just let me know what you want me to test and how as should hopefully have some time in the week though still have a busy agenda. I will try this new test build today on a brand new ATV1220T box which of course has default Android 4.2 installed by the Chinese factory. So hang fire and I will get back to you but maybe not until tomorrow as I am going out this evening socialising and it is already almost 15:30 here in Thailand.

Be back later.
Cheers

Just an update. Installed it on a new ATV1220T box and it booted okay although it showed on the flash screen as Helix 14.0 but that is unimportant at this stage. Booted into Confluence screen BUT there was no borders around any panels and no black background only transparent which made it look odd and difficult to read. I was connected by wired Ethernet cable to my router..

Initially I could navigate to the System|Get Addons screen so I could install Rob Weber's Backup add-on, but difficult to read properly as the display panels were still transparent. Installed Backup but when I want back to the home screen I could no longer navigate at all. Any attempt to move in the main menu just caused a quick soft reboot and even the shutdown red button on the remote would not work. So although the RSS feed line was scrolling meaning it was probably not locked up, nothing would work, so I have no option to installing say the Metropolis skin and testing it. A hard reboot did not help as still no means of navigating the main menus and each time you try a soft quick reboot would occur

So seems clear there is an incompatibility problem with Confluence and Isengard 15.1 Hope that was of some help Auxbox
Cheers

My experience is pretty much the same as raymw, i did manage to install another skin by ftp (AppTV) and get it running with this skin but after a few minutes it went back to Confluence with all the symptoms as described.

I do not know if it will help but i have put a copy of the kodi.log up at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzmT0Q...WFoY3NlVkk

I hesitate to post this since it's you, but I have found this bootcard to be helpful in recovering a box that was bricked by Ember. It may be worth a shot. It loads as any other bootcard does, reboots and then loads a second time after which you may have a working box again. As usual follow the instructions in the readme file.

Any traction on AuXBoX's latest build (Kodi 15.1 from Sep 26th)? I'm excited to move to Isengard and update my skin which stopped being Helix compatible a few minor versions ago. I really wish I had a second ATV520 to screw around with...

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice if any 1 can help me out please Smile (sorry if im in the wrong place)
I have a clone mx box(g18ref) - generic em6 from what ive googled, that was originally android but the company it was purchased from put their own custom linux on it...It ran fine up until a few weeks ago when it got very sluggish and freezing after an ota update.
I was going to try getting in touch with them for original firmware but they have since closed down so now im unable to get these from them

Im looking to try out different versions of linux on there, preferably a helix version as thats what i use on pc atm but I dont know whether im best of trying to revert back to android somehow or do I just go straight in and flash it?

Also, this is the 1 I was looking at but notice it says G02ref in the file name, can anyone point me in the right direction for a G18ref version please.

Heres what to do
Download Helix 14.1 this
or
Download Helix 14.2 this

1.Copy all files into SD card root directory

factory_update_param.aml
factory_update_param.ubt
bootloader.img
recovery.img
MX_LINUX-G02REF-update.zip

2.Insert SD card into the box, don't use USB disk.

3.Press and hold the upgrade button, then plug in power adapter.

4.Hold the button for about 10 seconds, then release.

5.There may be no display for upto 2 mins (DON'T POWER OFF!!!) then upgrading screen will appear.

6.After it's finished, the box will restart.

Sorry if Im being a n00b but Im new to this & thought its best to ask before attempting lol.
Thanks in advance

Can you be more specific on what box this is?
If you can tell me the name/number written on circuit board in the box, I can point you in the right direction...

@PiBo7 if u have G18ref box generic em6 you will probably wanna download ember from the ember website www.ember-dev.com. I find the latest version v2.0.2 to be broken I prefer v1.0.1 myself as it works for me and most of the v2.0.2 features are cosmetic / addon related atleast for me.
