I've seen the threads on APNG and saw that Ace, I think it was commented that he was going to work on this after implementation of gif. Is support for APNG going to wait for another version of kodi as well or is this a potential option in Jarvis instead of gif?

Jarvis is feature complete and will be out in some days/weeks. So you'll have to wait.
