Win HOW TO - Configure Kodi DSPlayer with LAV Filters, XySubFilter & madVR
(2016-01-21, 00:49)gotham_x Wrote: Thanks both for the reply, as set in the calibration section: disable calibration controls for this display and / or this display is Already calibrated, not have any impact on the mapping of the HDR source these two settings , is' correct ? or it's just in my head ...

I haven't tried any HDR sources myself. I think you should adjust the peak luminance to produce a change. Are you sure the source is HDR?

Try this link. It helped me understand what High Dynamic Range actually means. The technology for TVs is different, but the idea is the same.

Source HDR, taken here, I should rephrase my question, to ensure that HDR is' running madVR, which of these two settings in calibration section to be activated

1° disable calibration controls for this display
2° this display is Already calibrated

Thanks.

Maybe your display isn't built for HDR content. I'd try raising the peak luminance. Once you set your calibration, madVR should map to the color gamut selected.

1. it is mapping to what ever you have choice there
2. is mapping to bt709 AFAIK

HDR is always running no matter what. you only need the newest madVR version and the newest lavfilter version.

i don't know if your display is calibrated. i don't know what you are trying here so there is no clear answer.

if you don't know what they do use the defaults. if you have calibrated your screen don't change the settings here. leave them to the settings you have calibrated.

No no, the responses are clear enough, God forbid.

the TV in my possession is calibrated, so if I can define, in the sense that it is not 'been calibrated by a probe in my possession, but a network settings taken from calibrated probe, this is why I asked if the two parameters :
1° disable calibration controls for this display
2° this display is Already calibrated

They behaved any difference setting for execution HDR.

(this display is already calibrated) current setting madVR.
Reply
"disable calibration" controls for this display doesn't have extra option. "this display is already calibrated" does have option so again i don't know what your calibration settings are i have no clue what setting you are using in the "this display is already calibrated".

so of cause they behaved different depend on what setting you are using in "this display is already calibrated" by default it looks or should looks the same as "disable calibration settings" because the default setting is bt 709.

I am trying to get this build of Kodi running under Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, but whenever I try to play a video (whatever resolution) nothing happens but a a popup message telling me to check the logs (that I actually can't find anywhere...).

My HTPC:
  • INTEL i7-930
  • MSI GTX 960 2GB Gaming
  • CORSAIR 4GB DDR3 RAM
  • ASUS Rampage III Extreme motherboard

It is either connected to a Samsung JS9000 TV or a DENON AVR-X2200W AV receiver.

I followed the tuturial step-by-step and I set the video hardware decoding to DXVA2 (copy-back).

If I choose DVDplayer instead of DSplayer everything works (but 3840p videos of course).

Please help! Huh

Can you play the same video with MPC-HC? It is always safest to start with MPC-HC when using madVR. MPC-HC is covered in this guide.

If MPC-HC is working, my best guess would be the DSPlayer settings page. Revisit your settings and ensure LAV Filters is properly configured and madVR is chosen as the video renderer.

Accidentally checking the box "Use DirectShow merits" is the most common problem.

Alright I will give it another try and check also the troubleshooting section.

I did everything again from the scratch without being able to succesfully play a single damn video, but nevermind I move to MPC-HC as default player.

It played the Samsung HDR demo at 1st shot. Rofl

Did you try using Load from madVR active profile rather than saving to the DSPlayer database?

Yes and I always get an error telling me to check the logs.

This time I was able to find it and here is how it actually looks like with one and every video (no matter what resolution it is)!

I forgot to mention that DSPlayer will only play SMB shares. What type of filesystem are you using?

Remapping to these drives to SMB would be the ticket, if you wanted to go down that route.
