Kodi Media Player Options with 3D MVC & HD Audio
(2016-03-03, 14:26)hdmkv Wrote: Forced subs already requested. Re: MKV chapter support, thanks for the reminder; just added to their list. But, have a feeling both will take a back seat for HiMedia until the key early bugs are squashed.

Just to calibrate your guys' expectations, upon public release, Q10 Pro will be rather similar to current-gen Q5/Q10, but w/faster performance, better 4K playback (10-bit + HDR) & 192KHz support (no down-sampling). 3D ISO and HD audio playback pretty much like with current-gen. There's also the new Imprex 2.0 image processing engine, but will comment on it later in full review. Like with Darbee Darblet, whether you like it or not, or depending on which levels you adjust to, is highly subjective. As with current-gen, some with find PQ too 'digital' or contrasty, but I suspect most will like the added punch (as it doesn't introduce edge enhancement or halos unless you over-apply it, again same as w/Darbee).

This means HiMedia still uses an external player solution? Can you pls ask in the Beta community if someone actually can comment about 3D subs! For me that is the main reason I will consider the Q10/Q5.

Yes, same HiMediaWrapper to external player implementation for now. 3D subs is listed in the specs. Can you point me to your previous explanation on how to check for this again? I have just a few 3D ISO's w/subs throughout the movie... 'Stalingrad (2013)', 'The Taking of Tiger Mountain (2014)' & 'Young Detective Dee Rise of the Sea Dragon (2013)'. I can test w/one of these.

What are you asking?
I know none of those boxes are 100%. I own a Tronsmart Vega S905 and it just is not good atm. HD Audio yes but no Auto FPS and 23.976 and no 3D subs..

I will... hoping to finally have time later today and tomorrow (and likely into the weekend) for more Q10 pro testing, Minix U1, 4K on WeTek Core, new Zidoo X6 v1.0.33 firmware & finally new OE firmware (March 2 build) for Beelink Mini MX... in that order. Whew! Smile

Just take A picture with your Phone from a frame of the movie showing subs and post it or PM me. I can tell if it is 3D or not.

1) Is it just decode or is HDMI output actually 10-bit with HDR metadata?
2) 192kHz - passthrough or can it decode and output multichannel 192/24 FLAC etc.?

Zidoo X6 now support 23,976 true HDMI output?

Zidoo X6 as of last firmware 1.0.32 did not properly support 23.976. The only thing 1.0.33 fixed was Netflix/Youtube audio sync and updated to Kodi 16. 23.976 issue still not fixed.

And, I don't think they'll be able to fix it as it's the same issue w/HiMedia H8 Octa. I'd love to be proven wrong, but unless Rockchip releases a new SDK for 3368 SoC w/23.976, it won't happen... and I don't have faith in Rockchip.

Outright or through the glasses?

  1. All I did was play a HDR sample from here on my 4K display and it played fine, looked great. How can I verify actual 10-bit with HDR metadata for output?
  2. For 192KHz, passthru (w/a 2.0 audio-only sample I have), and w/multichannel FLAC (w/a 88KHz-24bit clip), my AVR indicated it was receiving multichannel, same as w/a LPCM 5.1 clip.

BTW @alanisrox69, your satellite caps are simply awesome quality. My OTA caps from local ATSC affiliates look like crap in comparison w/all the compression artifacts.

1) Well... the easiest way would be to check it on a UHD TV that supports HDR10. The TV will switch to HDR mode if it detects HDR metadata in the signal. If that's not possible, you will need an analyzer or at least the HDFury Integral which can tell you what the actual output is.

2) Did you check whether the multichannel was actually 24-bit or 16-bit. If you press the status button on your Denon AVR it will show you the sampling rate. I ask this because @fritsch mentioned that Android supports float only for stereo, it is 16-bit for multichannel - http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2231020

You can get some multichannel 24-bit 96kHz samples here: http://www.2l.no/hires/ I think Akira has 24-bit 192kHz PCM track.

1. My 4K TV is a budget Vizio, so don't think so
2. Thanks for the link; downloaded a "5.1 Surround 24BIT/96kHz" clip to try; don't have 'Akira' disc to test 5.1 192KHz

Here is a sample from Akira - Sample Actually, it doesn't have a PCM track, the Japanese Dolby TrueHD track is 24-bit 192kHz. You may have to disable passthrough and let it decode to LPCM.

I guess, you only have to test the 96kHz multichannel sample from 2L.
