v16 Chromebox issue
#1
So I updated my chromebox to Kodi 16.1-RC2 and now when I boot it up connected to my projector I get no video output, my projector just searches and searches and doesn't get a signal. When I connect the chromebox to a small VGA monitor using a VGA-HDMI adapter it boots up fine and I can access kodi. Under Kodi 15.2 this worked just fine. Any ideas on what I can change to get the display working with the projector? How hard is it to go back to OpenElec 6.2 and Kodi 15.2 on the chromebox?

what resolution is your projector? can you set the resolution to the projector native resolution while connected to the monitor? If that's doesn't work, I'd try to connect to the box via ssh and see what's going on with the video mode. 'xrandr --props | pastebinit' should do to start

When I am connected to the VGA monitor the highest resolution it supports is 1280x1024. My projector is 1920x1080, I can try connecting to it via ssh and run that command, I'll let you know.

The xrandr output you posted shows it correctly set to to 1080p60, so not sure why it's not syncing up properly

Ok so lets say I want to go back to OpenElec 6.2 and Kodi 15.2. what do I have to do to make this happen?

Interestingly, I connected the Chromebox to my 42' plasma and it worked just fine, so either its some setting in Kodi 16.1-RC2 that is preventing the display with my projector from working, or something maybe with the projector, hard to say.

downgrade the same way you upgraded

nothing with Kodi I suspect, but with the Intel graphics drivers (or something related to the graphics subsystem) in OpenELEC. Perhaps try setting another resolution/refresh from the command line and see if it will sync up that way?
Code:
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1280x720

How do I downgrade though, do I just download openelec 6.2 and Kodi 15.2 and drop the tar file into the update folder and reboot?

I will try the command and report back.

So I was able to get it working at 1080p the problem seems to be the refresh rate, it doesn't want to work at 60fps but will work at 30fps. At this point I would rather downgrade to OpenElec 6.2 and Kodi 15.2 so if there is an easy way to do that, please fill me in.

Thanks.

yes. do a hard reset afterwards (OpenELEC Settings/General) to start fresh. Use the 6.0.398-EGL version linked on the wiki page.
