There is no one better Ed as there is ONLY ONE choice with an Ember build available and that is the M12 s805 box as shown on tfhe Ember site Downloads page. So there is no choice other than the M12 box at the moment and no plans I know of as yet for EmbER to release firmware for S812 boxes i.e. the M10 one your link pointed to. We are awaiting the release of the EmbER firmware for the very cheap plastic cased MXQ box, which is also an S805 type, and this is shown greyed out on the EmbER downloads page awaiting its release..

That's funny. The specs for the ARNU box are identical to the MXQ M10. EVen the box itself looks identical.

Hi Ed. If you want EmbER on an M10 box then you would need to buy direct from Arnu as they are the only outlet that has the exclusive rights to that S812 firmware for those boxes and the S905 units too. This is only for the time being this year I understand and indeed those Arnu boxes are reported to be very good indeed. Of course though you have to pay the price for a ready made Arnu Pure Linux box for all the work that Arnu put into setting them up and why as you know any KODI boxes with Linux firmware installed on them are always more expensive understandably than the straight default factory installed Android bloat-ware.

So if you want to flash your own Ember on an MXQ box then you need the metal cased MXQ M12 S805 box available from AliExpress and many other outlets too, but make sure it is a genuine one, though so far I have not come across any copy ones with this particularly good looking nicely produced metal case M12 box. As I have said before on these forums, those MXQ M12 S805 boxes with the current EmbER 4 nightly beta build installed are working very well indeed so I am very happy with them so far, but there is I believe even more to come for the full EmbER4 release later. .

Sure Aux and thanks for your valued input mate. However, with EmbER with Jarvis (okay only nightly beta build just now) available for the M12 box then why bother. Sure if you must have an M10 box with Linux then openelec is currently your only choice until EmbER arrives for it, but that may not be until next year. Quite honestly though I am mega happy with my M12 with EmbER 4 nightly build (shortly full release V4 will arrive) and in fact overall the best XBMC/KODI box I have ever had the pleasure to have and use. Cannot say for sure but by all accounts I would have clearly thought that an M12 with EmbER 4 will be a better bet than an M10 with openelec for most folk, but I stand to be corrected on that of course as I am not talking from personal experience with M10 or openelec, just from what I have heard.and deduced.

No Ed. I understand that they are concentrating on getting the full release of EmbER 4 out hopefully quite soon now and there will very unlikely be a nightly build for the G02Ref boxes. They are making sure EmbER 4 is spot on for the S805 box build and that is why there was a nightly build of V4 released a few weeks ago for folk to test out and give them feedback, which indeed i have done so. That nightly V4 build works very well with my M12 S805 box I have to say, and overall very happy indeed with it; just a few small bugs which they are likely sorting out prior to the full release.

These new quad core S805, and next generation quad core boxes, are now the way forward, but I am sure they will continue to offer updates for the G02Ref boxes for the foreseeable future too, as they are still very good and valued boxes of course..

But hey these new M12 S805 boxes are so cheap and work so very well with EmbER that it has to be the way to go right now, or at least as soon as the full EmbER 4 for S805 is released.soon.

Thanks Ray for the info. I was wondering is there any other OS that can go on the MX 1 box? It's probably only single core.

MX 1?? Do you mean MX10 ?? I thought the MX10 was a quad core box. Anyway as yet I do not know of any Linux OS for that box though someone here may know differently I am only interested in Linux OS Ed though I know openelec have firmware for several different types of boxes I gather. Aux is your man for that though.

Thanks Ray, I think I might be able to get Ember on it. It's listed on the download section.

Generic Em6. I think I'll give it a try.

I do not see any MX1 or MX10 boxes on the list so which box have you got ?? Sure there are a few G18Ref boxes that have Ember available for them, like the MX2 box which are indeed dual core boxes not quad core. So if you are sure your box is the same model as referred to and shown in the pictures, then go ahead. If it all works well then don't forget to register and activate it for the full Donor Edition as it si only US$10 and helps fund this expensive tiem consummign project at EmbEr Developmetns. Of course you will then get OTA firmware updates and shortly that will auto update to EmbER 4 with Jarvis KODI 16 too

Good news Ed. Shortly if you now have donated and got the Donor Edition that will OTA update to Ember 4 and Jarvis, just be patient as Josh and Cory want it 100% right before release. Enjoy

GOOD NEWS NEW EMBER NIGHTLY BUILDS FOR M6 BOXES NOW AVAILABLE Smile

You should now see EmbER V4 nightly builds available for the supported M6 boxes so G02Ref, G18Ref, CMX and TLBB versions available and these are now using of course KODI V16 Jarvis. So as long as you are a registered Donor Edition user you can test the new nightly builds for yourself but of course at your own risk. Main thing is that folk should report any bugs that they may find here together with their box type and the nightly build version they are using.

There is also a new nightly build for the MXQ M12 S805 metal cased boxes too which superseded the earlier one released last month. I have already installed that OTA and it went very smoothly. No real differences I noticed though but I understand only minor background bug fixes. This S805 build works very well indeed with a few very minor bugs that really do not detract from using this build at all.

Josh has also mentioned that EmbER 4 should be out of beta, at least for the M12 boxes, by the end of next week. So more good news and all should show it has been well worth the wait. He is extremely busy getting it all finished off ready for release so unable to post here himself right now, so he sends his apologies for that. So my posting this announcement here on his behalf purely as a messenger will hopefully be a great help to him as you will appreciate.
Cheers
