Here you have both screenshots, one sorted by Interpreter where you can see the Artist name + the name of the song, and the other one sorted by year, where you can see only the title of the song.

I see now what do you mean. This is how Kodi works. Years is based on title and not on artists, so it show music videos titles and not artists.

It happens in a lot of addons. In the YouTube addon, for example, the viewtype for the icons are "Icon Wall".
It is grayed out and you cannot change it to list or thumbnails, etc. You can do it with the Confluence skin.
