See:
Kodi v17 (Krypton) FAQ (wiki) -
Frequently Asked Questions for upgrading to Kodi v17 (Krypton), including how to enable some of the new features, where some controls got moved to, etc.
NOTE: This thread is about improving the Krypton FAQ. This thread is not for getting help with v17. Unless it's directly related to the FAQ (such as clarifying instructions on the FAQ, an issue you think should be included, etc), don't post questions in this thread. Make a new forum post instead.
It's that time again. The aim here is to make the upgrade FAQ the first line of defense for all the common upgrade questions. What are the common problems, what are the changes you think people will be asking about, etc?
Feel free to edit the page directly or post here with what you think should be added to the FAQ.

In addition, the wiki will be needing a ton of other help since the default skin is changing and the location of settings have been moved around. This changes a lot of instructions/screenshots, even if the core feature stayed the same. Any help for any Krypton related updating would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to have some guides about how people can help posted in the wiki sub-forum soon:

Are you contemplating 2 sets of screenshots, confluence plus estuary, so that the luddites people who can't /won't update still have instructions?
In terms of 'can't ' there will be a lot of android users who are stuck due to the android requirements.

Most likely, yeah, two screenshots. I'm hoping there's a nice way to just toggle the screenshot, so two don't have to be displayed at the same time.

I found a wiki extension that will do exactly this, but once again, our version of mediawiki is too old. It would be so much easier to do pretty much anything wiki related if things were updated.

If the wiki ever gets updated, it would look something like this:

The new CodecInfo stuff:

This is what I gather from github, assuming
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/10166 goes in. Does this seem correct?

Just a note, need to document volume steps:

Another note to self: I guess there should be some mention about the new setting for installing-by-zip, though it's fairly self explanatory.

Another thing to document in both the FAQ, the Mac FAQ, and on the Apple remote pages are the v17 changes for Apple remote keymaps and Logitech Harmony remotes. These have new maps and that means some users will see their maps stop working after the upgrade, which will require some changes in the xml file.

Wiki examples of album.nfo need updating to show this http://kodi.wiki/view/NFO_files/music
Thanks, I'll be sure to note that. I'm not sure I'll be touching Kodi.wiki anymore (I still help out with the LibreELEC wiki), but I will make sure anything I do for other wikis is easily importable for the Kodi copy. CC-SA-BY for the win!
