Tried launching Retroarch through AEL for snes games. Have the same slow fps issue as with fusion.
Using the same solution so not bothered.
In fact I find it easier copying and editing a text file for the launcher rather than editing the launcher parameters in AEL.

Fusion works great ! Let we know your config...

See a few posts back - Fusion works great for me too but when I launch through AEL I get slow down unless I minimise Kodi then maximise then minimise again.
Wintermute suggested a 3rd party program that I can use to automatically do it on launch which works great. I thought it was just fusion but it seems to be happening with Retroarch too.

Always minimize Kodi (if possible)... for some , it is even better to close kodi (like Dolphin or PCSX2 with a little config) ! Some are poorly optimized...
I use one batch by emulator (with Autoit) to automate process.
Ideally Kodi should be launched in windowed fullscreen mode for emulation (That's conclusion of an old discution with Angelcry... Advanced Launcher Author)

@myghalloween - Is launching Kodi in fullscreen - window better than launching in fullscreen and letting AEL switch to windowed mode when a rom is launched or would it not make too much difference?

@wintermute - I've notice the videos don't always stop/pause when a rom is launched. Especially if the mouse cursor is pointing at a rom with a video. It will stop the video playing and then start the video the mouse is pointing at.

What OS and video card is in your machine? It might seem exotic, but depending on the configuration it may be possible you are simply having problems with clashing render modes. Fusion doesn't allow you to specify render options (ie: Overlay, Direct3D, OpenGL, DirectDraw GDI, etc...) and I can't speak for RetroArch as I don't use it (IMHO, RetroArch doesn't seem as efficient as standalones but that's perceptive). If there is a clash, it can cause the framerate to chug and feel like your wading through hip deep mud but this primarily effects older hardware, example, a DirectX9 class video card.

Sorry I didn't want to hijack this thread too much. Just wanted to make sure I could use AEL without issues and using the minimise script I can. My hope is others with the same issue see my posts and use the same solution.

However saying that you may have a better solution so here is my setup

It's a Pipo X9 which is dual boot Windows 10 32bit and Android 4.4. It also features a 1920×1200 pixel touchscreen
Intel Baytrail 1.3ghz quad core processor with Intel HD graphics (Z3736F)
RAM: 2 GB DDR3
It's not very powerful but I actually wanted it to stand in for my Amiga on the large TV. My wife didn't want me bringing all my Amiga stuff downstairs so we compromised. It plays all the stuff I want to play at full speed with the right emulators.

I use WinUae with Amiga OS3.9 on my main tv screen and use the touch screen for windows. I have an amiga app that launches PC side applications from Amiga OS. I use the PC side for quick access to windows mainly system setups or other things I my want to do without exiting whatever game I'm playing.
This software setup is not responsible for my issues though as winuae pauses when PC programs are active and I've tried it without winuae running and with only 1 screen active.

On emulators that work fine launched normally, it's only when KODI is maximised that I get the slow down. Even when I can hear the video trailer running in the background on a minimised AEL I am getting full speed

I'm afraid the support for nplayers in LibretroDB is very poor, you can have a look here. I will not add a nplayers metadata field until I find a reliable source of information for the offline scraper (apart from GameDBInfo), sorry Blush

Advanced MAME Launcher will support nplayers natively Big Grin

Post a debug log and I will have a look. Also, is your issue similar to this one?

Mmm.... I think that greatly depends on the operating system. In Kodibuntu both Advanced Launcher/Advanced Emulator Launcher work great with Mednafen and Retroarch with the default settings (keep Kodi window maximised at full screen). The only thing you have to do is make sure Kodi is running within a window manager, in my case OpenBox.

I'm afraid that most of the problems that require Kodi to minimise, introduce delays before/after launching, etc., are because of Windows.

Your config is too small for emulators AND Kodi... You must launch Kodi in windowed fullscreen mode... Then, AEL toggle Kodi in windowed mode : off !
Have you Kodi version install on Win 10 or Android 4.4 ? Android should be better for your platform...
/!\ Intel Baytrail 1.3 ghz seems to me very light for emu in 1920x1200 !
