Beta Spotify for Kodi
Hello Users

I am trying to use the Spotify Add-On on my RPi 3 with LibreElec and Kodi. (Versions below!)

I managed to log in to my Spotify account and I can see my songlist etc. I am a premium user. When I try to start a track I get a message like "One or more tracks could not be played: Check log..."

Rest below, I hope someone can help me.

There are issues with this plugin and Kodi Krypton. I'm looking into it together with one of the Kodi devs.

Hi

The addon still getting error on kodi after a time.
If I don´t use Spotify on my Kodi Jarvis, I can use for hours with no freezes.
But, if I start the addon, after a time (can be 10 minutes or another amount of time, never is the same time), Kodi freezes, and open a message from windows "kodi stop working", and if I open to see the details of the error, it says the problem was with libspotify.dll.
Someone has the same problem?

It's a known issue. Happens to some, and is caused by the crappy old libspotify implementation using ctypes.
Unfortunately nothing can be done about it, just wait for Spotify when they give us some proper implementation for playback in the new api.

Hi ! Using the version 1.0.22 of this addon and Krypton beta 3.
I can see all my tracks but no song can play when I select one of my playlists, or whatever song it is.
Does anybody have the same issue and/or a fix to this ?

The only facility I'm missing is a shortcut to save to my spotify music. I think a keyboard shortcut would be convenient. But yes I'm not 100% sure it is feasable.

Well, to have it as a button in the skin will require skin modifications but a keyboard shortcut will do.
I'll create something for this, I'll let you know once it's available to test.

EDIT: New version will be available on the repo within an hour. With that new version just create a shortcut / keyboard shortcut to this command:

RunPlugin(plugin://plugin.audio.spotify/?action=add_track_to_playlist)
hello,

I completely forgot to test this. My bad.
I did this right now and it works wonderfully.
But I just realized it was not exactly what I was hoping for.
In fact I wish to save to my music and not to add to a playlist.
So I tried to replace RunPlugin(plugin://plugin.audio.spotify/?action=add_track_to_playlist) by RunPlugin(plugin://plugin.audio.spotify/?action=save_track) and it unfortunately doesn't work. Would you please publish this in the accessible methods.

Thanks in advance

I have only normal letters in my username and password (apart from a capital M) and my account isn't through facebook.

Can anyone confirm they have this working on El Capitan on 16.1?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

I can't get it to work either on El Capitan or Sierra. Same error.

The error happens in httpproxy.py in create_user_token(). I'm guessing that "user_agent" is in UTF-8 and because base_token - created in create_base_token() above - is just an ascii string the str.jojn throws an exception.
Python seems to have a myriad ways of dealing with unicode, there's some weird stuff about "from __future__ import unicode_literals" as a python option to make python 2 more flexible but I don't really understand what it's doing.

I've had the quickest of plays but I'd have to learn python to help more. Hope the above helps a bit, not sure why it's just a Mac thing.

And to answer my own question. Yes - if you replace the variable user_agent with the ascii string 'Spotify/1.0.22 (XBMC/16.1 Git:2016-04-24-c327c53' on line 64 of httpproxy.py it all works fine. This is a hack not a fix but at least the plugin works.

Hi,
thanks for this add-on!
One comment, it first didn't work on OS X El Capitan/Kodi 16.1. I had to
- Use my username, not my email
- Use the latest version from here: https://github.com/marcelveldt/plugin.au...0131c3c943. Otherwise I got the error "Login error: "ascii" codec cannot decode byte 0xeb in position 0: ordinal not in range(128)"

Correct, that issue is fixed on Git but I did not yet supplied another beta version on the repo. Will do so tomorrow.

I'm on OpenElec on Raspberry Pi, so no browser...
I didn't want to install Kodi, the repo, the addon on a computer. I wrote this little script to get a cache file. Find instructions in the script header. Feel free to add the script to github. Thank you for the addon!
