Yes, you answered your own question. Even with Epson 5040UB, the new eShift 4K PJ I'm considering, I was being told @ AVSForum that 150" (scope screen however) was too big. Seating distance makes a difference for sure, as does PQ, as does screen. If I get this PJ, I'll likely experiment on a white wall, then only decide on screen size, as well as scope vs. 16:9.

I've been on AVSForum for years. Many of the people are a little too stuffy if you ask me. Its only too big if you think its too big.

I like the way you think.

Cheers guys, you've all been really helpful.
Just seen a benq w1070+ for £350 (not used, but out of box display model). Looks a good deal?
3 more quickies please gents then I'll leave you all in peace and stop hijacking the thread!
1. any experience of horizontal keystone movement? Is it good so you can put your projector slightly to the side (as this model allows) or to be avoided?
2. how much 'play' does the fine zoom control give you on image size once the projector is in place?
3. I actually have a significant gap under my sofa as it's on wooden legs. Would it be daft to think I could position the projector under the sofa? Would certainly make cabling and set up a lot easier :-)

Sorry for the constant questions. I love my kodi setup and want to get this just right!

W1070 is quite old, I would avoid that one personally. You should not use keystone if you can avoide it. Under the sofa probably not going to work.

Ok, thanks
The TH670 seems to be their current entry level frame packed 3D model having gone through their website. Trying to work out from the features page what that is lacking compared to the others - why it's quite a bit cheaper?

Under the sofa HuhHuhHuhHuh
i haven't heard anything like that..

Get a short trow projector like the Optoma GT1080, its your best choice.

Anyone that have space concerns or dont hang the projector on the ceiling, its better served with a 75" TV 1080p prices are falling very fast.

In theory it could go under the sofa, but then you would need to tilt it, and use keystone and the sofa would have to be pretty dang high to make it work out.

What was wrong w/your Yamaha 3050? Great AVR. What has Marantz got over Yamaha?

I'm saving up for a 4K PJ instead Big Grin!

Nothing was wrong with the Yamaha 3050, I loved it, I just wanted an AVR that support all Immersive audio format ( ATMOS/DTS:X/AURO 3D) Cool
