Intel Apollo Lake
(2017-03-02, 03:25)dexter98 Wrote: Just quickly checked mvc video + dolby atmos playback on asrock j3455 board, hdmi output via dvi. This runs perfectly with one of latest afedchin build!!! (Good work afedchin!!!)

Mvc decode shows to use Hw. Audio pass-through also runs in fine (receiver shows atmos as input stream)

Only issue I had was that video freezes on seek.

Hi, possible to give a link to image.. I would like to test this build also, thank you

To repeat it again: But not with 1080p/23,976Hz material (appr. 99% of all BDs on the market)
As I wrote: Everytime I start a full Screen Video (Kodi/mpchc) The Resolution turns to 2160p. So every Video is scaled up by Windows. So it works with 2160p/23,976Hz!
Yes 4k/23,976Hz is working, but as I wrote it does not work with 1080p/23,976Hz which is necessary if one doesn't want the HTPC doing the upscaling (for example if the TV/projector does not have a 4k, but FullHD FI).

Results of my KODI tests with the KabyLake-NUC (i3) with USB-C to HDMI converter from Club3D:

Windows:
- audio passthrough: working in combination with every resolution, sound starts immediately after playback started (no delay as with the DP2HDMI converter from Megachips)
- 3D with special KODI version: not working (sound is playing, but no video)

Linux::
- audio passthrough: not working (only tested Atmos and DTS:X)

Sorry Intel, but Kaby/Apollo-Lake is a total mess!

Would light gaming be feasible with the J3455? Something along the lines of Portal 2?

If someone doesn't have 4k Hardware, then the signals are transferred via HDMI 1.4. And with this configuration everything is working. With my old Onkyo HD-Audio worked fine.

But the main purpose for buying the Apollo Lake plattform is 4k. Otherwise one can buy one of the older generation plattforms for less bucks with even more power.

which won't do hevc-10 bit ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

It is dissapointing about the 4K issue . Hopefully it can be fixed otherwise I've no idea what to upgrade too .

Hi, I'm new here.

My first post is already off topic, sorry... but I'm so happy to find this many people that also have one of the ASRock boards.

Is there anyone here that can do UHD 60Hz 4:4:4 8 bit on a HDMI TV?

I'm using the usual test patterns: http://cellarcinema.info/temp/uhdtest.zip (WITHOUT scaling, on W10 it's 'right mouse button' + edit)

My setup is: J3455-ITX FW 1.2, LSPCON FW 1.61, Club3D 3m 4K HDMI cable, Philips 43PUS6101/12 (HDMI3 with 4:2:2/4:4:4 enabled)

With Windows 10 I get the following results:
ChromaRes.png... shows 4:2:2
TextTest_1920x1080.png... red/yellow text is not vibrant, red-on-blue text font not pixel perfect
TintBlueRGB.PNG... the word red/magenta looks like 3D

Reducing to 30Hz doesn't help im my case, but a FullHD Monitor connected to the DVI port works fine (4:4:4 mode).

I'm a Windows user, but would also like to here if it can be done with Linux.

I've tried 4 TVs, 5 HDMI cables, different firmwares, drivers and custom resolutions... I'm starting to lose hope.

I'm trying to get Intel to expand the features of the HD graphics control panel (force YCbCr 4:4:4 or RGB). https://communities.intel.com/thread/111279

thanks

I have just received my replacement J4205 and I am running W10 at the moment so I'll check and let you know. I think I am running in 4:4:4 with my Sony TV, but I didn't do proper test with test images...

Yes
and
Yes. But tech demo only.

Use any PC to access samba.
1.
\\IP of your LE box <- E.g. for windows explorer
2.
Copy zip to update folder
reboot

Just verified that your ChromaRes.png shows 4:4:4 in [email protected] with my ASRock J4205, BIOS 1.20, Win10 Pro, latest Intel Gfx driver 15.45.14.4590 connected to Sony Bravia KD-55XD8005.

So no idea what's wrong with your setup, it should work.

Edit: hope you're not doing something stupid like looping through legacy AV receiver which downgrades your HDMI 2.0 output to HDMI 1.4 or something similar...

On Samsung JS7000 i also have 4:2:2 on J4205-ITX in Win 10 , latest drivers and clean install
hmm, will test LE later

Btw not sure what do you mean by "WITHOUT scaling, on W10 it's 'right mouse button' + edit".

On my W10 it's: double-click to open PNG in the default W10 image viewer, then right click and choose "original size".

Cool, so it can work. Smile
I just checked the Sony manual... doesn't say anything about the HDMI inputs except for resolution/rate.
Do you have an info button to show the current mode (RGB/8bit)? My TV only says [email protected]
