Win Intel HTPCs/NUCs & Kodi-native 3D MVC Playback
(2017-03-11, 21:07)3DBuff Wrote: @rmilyard can you verify that PowerDVD is working with HDMI 2.0 port? Can you send screen shoot of the 3D mode selection etc.

I can't get PowerDVD to give me proper frame packing 3D mode but my hardware is a bit different.
I have NUC6CAYH and PowerDVD won't let me select the "HDMI 1.4 device 1080p/24Hz" mode on the HDMI 2.0 port. You are having the same issue?

Everybody has this issue with the latest Intel chipset 7th generation Kaby Lake architecture no matter who made computer and mobo unless you have build in HDMI 1.4 port. Couple people reported PowerDVD working for them but it hasn't been verified.
As it stands right now there is no known hardware / software that can output proper 3D MVC frame packing stream on Kaby Lake HDMI 2.0, USB-C or Display Port 1.2.

So you'll be just as upset with the 7th gen NUC as your were with the ASRock Beebox.

Hopefully they get fixed or PowerDVD 17 works with it.

Has anybody tested this motherboard with the Pentium G4600

It has HDMI 1.4, I want to build a DIY HTPC mainly for 3D MVC playback

If it doesn't work (Intel graphics seems to have a problem with HDMI 2.0 which might be purposely) you could always install an Nvidia GPU and use whatever port on it you desire. I'd recommend HDMI 2.0. Then you can use 4k settings everywhere and still decode 3D MVC perfectly without ever changing a setting. On top of that, your 1080 3D will upscale on your 4k display. Makes for an enhanced resolution GUI too. Not to mention Windows desktop will also render in 4k and not be limited to 1080. 4k is the new standard imo. Too bad there is no standard above 1080 for 3D. Would solve a lot of state of the art problems. With 3D slowed down until HDR and 4k is milked, all we can do is work with what we can.

*Edit*
This would still require PDVD and the Intel Media SDK install OR setting all the environments to 1080. This would allow you to have an unlimited port to work with.

Is there a Krypton 17.1 version of the MVC build?

I thought the advantage of having a HDMI 2 port was more for 4k and HDCP protection. I wanted something for 3D MVC playback and it seems like HDMI 2 would cause issues there but not 1.4

How does the rest of your setup looks like? Do you use a receiver? If so, which one? What TV do you have?

HDMI 2 supports stereoscopic 3D but current implementation of it for Intel chips via DPtoHDMI converter doesn't work well.

I am using a receiver (Onkyo 737) but the HTPC will directly connect to the TV which is the LG E6. I have a Nvidia Shield which I use for 4k but Kodi on it cannot seem to do frame packed 3D (MVC 3D).

I plan on using the HTPC to play the 3D MVC files. The motherboard that I have linked shows that is has a HDMI 1.4 port so would that work if the TV is connected through that port.
