v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0)
Video rendering is no longer working with nvidia (ION2) and #0710 - the GUI is working normally, but playing a video results in only audio and just a black screen with no video: http://sprunge.us/BSEH

No issues with #0709, that works fine so something in tonight's build.

Edit: Disabling VDPAU had no effect, same result with or without VDPAU.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.
Tried build #0710 and no samba server. See:

So....I took the same SD card with build #0710 to my other system (Acer Revo RL100) and booted it.
That too has the same errors as above BUT the samba server DOES start. See:

LibreELEC:~ # journalctl -xe | pastebinit

LibreELEC:~ #

The last line shows that Samba has started and indeed LIBREELEC shared folders are visible on the Mac and Windows systems.

So something about the Revo RL85 that's stopping smbd from starting.
@macnb thanks, unfortunately the change I made didn't work as expected - I'll do more testing and either upload another build for you later, or we can have another go tomorrow night. Smile

Curious about:
VideoPlayer updates (PR:12212, 98 commits, 203 files changed)

I haven't upgraded in quite a while. Is this just changing the way the player works or will it offer visual improvements of some sort?

Thanks!
Brian
@macnb can you try build #0710b: Generic

It should work a little better...

I'll just say I'm not qualified to answer, I just build... so if a passing developer wants to enlighten us all - feel free.

It would be great to get feedback from anyone using RTL8812AU-based USB WiFi dongles, as in the last build we're using a new repo that's supposedly more up-to-date (v5.1.5 instead of v4.3.20).

With #0710 and #0710b Amazon and Netflix video playback stopped working (Intel Kaby Lake) with #0709 everythings fine (except known audio sync problems)!

Not sure about your issue, but both Amazon and Netflix with #0710 on Skylake NUC are crashing for me - all I see is a "green screen" at the start of playback, then a crash.

Debug-enabled crashlogs: Amazon, Netflix.

Amazon and Netflix with #0709 on the same hardware are both working fine.

RPi3 with #0710 has no issues with Amazon or Netflix, so this seems to be an x86-specific issue starting with #0710.

Yes ! That build works. LIBREELEC server is visible as soon as it boots up. Thanks.
Matter of interest, what was the problem and what did you do to fix it ?

A green screen doesnt appear here. I only see the film title in right upper corner (like always before playback is starting) but nothing else (no sound, no pic).
Stopping this action with the "stop button" on my remote is possible - so no crash here.....
I have had no IR input on any of these latest builds, running an intel kaby lake NUC. IR powers the NUC on from standby so the IR is definitely working just not within KODI.

Any Ideas? even the IRW command shows nothing coming in when pressing any buttons on my remote.

info: IR worked up to 0704, stopped in 0705.

Nothing obvious in #0705, are you sure #0705 is the first non-working build?

Can you provide a dmesg and debug kodi.log? Also have you tried disabling LIRC in LibreELEC Settings addon to see if that helps (these LE9 builds can use the kernel to decode IR rather than LIRC itself).

Good, thanks.

You probably have more partitions in your system than most who run LibreELEC.

At bootup, as each partition is "seen" by udev, the new partition is mounted (/var/media/<blah>) and - if Samba auto-sharing is enabled - the partition is automatically shared by Samba.

In order for Samba to share the new partition the smbd/nmbd/samba-config services must be restarted and the new partition added to the Samba configuration. This means that smbd, nmbd and the samba-config service will be restarted up to 6 times in your case, once for each partition (/flash, /storage plus /dev/sda[2,4,5,6]).

There is a "5 restarts within 10 seconds" default limit in systemd (to prevent units/services going nuts) and unfortunately you were exceeding the 5 restart limit which resulted in the samba-config service eventually failing, which then caused the smbd and nmbd services to fail as they're both dependent on the failed samba-config service. Manually running "smbd" at the command line started the smbd daemon but you'd be missing 1 or 2 shares and nmbd would not be running (no NetBIOS support).

Both smbd and nmbd services already had this restart limit disabled, but samba-config did not. Disabling the restart limit on the samba-config service fixes the issue (and will be backported to the next LE8 official release) - thanks for reporting!
